Golf details:
The Maggie Valley Club is a highly rated golf course in North Carolina. The Clubhouse underwent a recent transformation, and it is immaculate. The golfing is magnificent with all of the specifics of the course available at the Clubhouse, which is within walking distance of the home, or by using Google or other search vehicles for the Maggie Valley Club. As of April 2009, golf rates range from $45.00 (Jan, Feb, & Dec) to $60.00 (April-Oct). March & November = $50.00.
Two (2) golf club sets, with bags, are provided for your use at the property. One (1) Left handed full set & One (1) Right handed full set. Plenty of used golf balls are also provided with the golf bag sets.
We also have a smaller cottage-like home approx: 1 mile from this home nestled a bit higher in the mountains surrounding the Maggie Valley Club. If this one is booked or you desire a smaller and more secluded home, inquire about Casanova's Mountain Retreat. Homeaway advertises both homes.
Skiing:
The Cataloochee Ski Resort is located literally on the mountain next door. It's approx: 15 minutes (8 miles) from the home only because of the slower speed during the climb to it. Cataloochee is usually the first ski resort to open on the east coast of the United States. They will use real or created snow as needed. There's snow tubing across the street from the Ghost Town theme park, approx: 10 minutes from the home. They will also use real or created snow.
Adventuring:
There are countless places to visit if you're the adventurous type. The Smoky Mountains National Park is minutes away from the home, which is one of the most visited parks in the country. There are trails throughout the park as well as water falls and scenic stops. The Cherokee Indian Reservation is on the way to the National Park and they also have numerous trails, streams, and places to see including the Harrah's Hotel and Casino. The Cataloochee Elk Preserve is a must if you enjoy watching giant deer (Elk) within a few feet from you while they eat. You must head there as the sun begins to go down since that is their feeding time. Lake Junaluska is west of the home, and you can fish and canoe the beautiful lake. There is another golf course across the street from the lake, and several others in the nearby town of Waynesville.
