This home was recently renovated and features cool tile floors, large flatscreen t.v., luxurious pillow top mattresses with freshly laundered duvet covers, and many other modern conveniences. Relax at the end of a full day watching the sun set from your private covered patio, or through the french doors from your living room. Finish off the evening with family and friends around the glow of a bonfire, right on the beach, recounting tales of your glorious day at the beach.

Great Beach House

We have stayed many places on the beach in Oceanside for over 10 years and John's is one of the very best. Great open floor plan, plenty of bathrooms and well laid out. Whereas the kitchen is small, everything worked and we weren't there for the kitchen (!)
The owner could not have been more pleasant and we loved it, the kids loved it and everyone who visited loved it... The large property (outside) allows for room and Beach access was great (no stairs, cliffs)... and whereas the owner can't make the sunsets... they were beautiful too.

Great Family Vacation

Our family of 6 stayed at this Oceanside gem in July 2009. What a great vacation and what a great property! The private beach/backyard was ideal for our young kids. The rock firepit was great for making smores and listening to the waves in the cool evening hours. Access to the ocean and great public beach was outstanding. We'll be back soon.

Great Vacation Place

We stayed here recently with 2 familes; 4 adults and 5 children ages 3-7 and LOVED IT! There is plently of space for everyone and the private yard is just right to let the kids play without worry. Beach front is beautiful and clean and right out the back door...house is well maintained,,,owner is more than friendly and accommodating...fire pit for roasting marshmellows was a hit... It has everything you need (except one item...ceiling fans...so you may want to bring along a portable fan to circulate the air at night) but overall cannot be in a more PERFECT LOCATION. We look forward to visiting again!

Great Private Beach Location!

We just stayed there May 2009 (family of 6 - 4 kids), and we were very pleased with the accommodations. While the house is older, we were overall very pleased with the unit. Only negative is the master bathroom is not attached to master bedroom. The family room is huge! Great place to hang out when not on the private beach, or below it on the public beach. The owner does live upstairs, but he was very helpful, never obtrusive, and we did not feel uncomfortable at all. We played movies and were out on the beach at night and no complaints from anyone about noise. I recommend this place to stay to any family looking for a beach vacation!

Someone to watch over you!

We spent a week there in April and the rental is on the lower level below the owner. The guy we rented from (who lives with his mother upstairs) is always around so it never felt private. We had four kids ages 4-9 and were told our kids were loud. They didn't seem to be concerned about being loud as they had a vacuum running over our heads at 7:30am.

The kitchen was small and in need of updating. Bathrooms could use a makeover as well.

The beach was ok, black in spots and the town was nice, but I wouldn't go back.
Owner's Response: I am truly sorry this group didn't have a great stay. After my dad died last year, I moved in to care for my 83 yr. old mother with Alzheimer's. We remodeled the beach level unit and started renting it to help pay for her daytime caregiver, who stays with mom while i'm at work.
We've had people from all over the U.S. and Canada stay with us and the response we normally get is "Best Vacation Ever!" and "See you next year!"
No place is going to fit for everyone, but i think it speaks volumes about this person that he complains about the beach itself. He is right about one thing; the kitchen could use a makeover. It has all modern appliances and a new travertine floor, but the cabinets are a little 70's.
