Before you unpack, take a walk to the beach! You will find a white sandy beach where you can sit and read a book, walk, swim, or launch your sun fish. Across Barnstable Harbor you will see Sandy Neck and Cape Cod Bay. This is Cape Cod. Now you can unpack for a wonderful relaxing vacation. The house has two bedrooms on the first floor, and two bedrooms on the second floor. There is a full bath with shower on each floor. There is an eat-in kitchen with open living area, and a sun room. There is an outdoor shower and a shaded yard where you can relax with a book. Washer and dryer, dishwasher, basic cable and TV, parking for 2-3 cars only.

Activities Available: Millway Marina: Whale Watch excursions daily during the summer. Stop by for a drink, lunch, or dinner at the Mattakesse Restaurant and Osterville Fish Too, overlooking the marina. Two boat ramps -- bring your trailered boat, parking available at one of the ramps. Deep sea fishing charters -- catch your dinner!

Barnstable Village: About a mile to the village for the general store, the ice cream shop, the post office, the coffee shop, pottery shop, art association, Tales of Cape Cod, Coast Guard Museum, and gourmet restaurants.

Hyannis: Restaurants, shopping, ferries to the islands, fishing excursions.

Route 6A from Sandwich to the Outer Cape: gift shops, restaurants, beautiful scenery.

Children: The back yard of the house provides a great place for children to play. The private beach is a short stroll down the lane, and there is a swimming float to use at high tide. You can walk for miles at low tide.

Sturgis Library: books, computers, excellent family history research

Day Trips: Provincetown: An hours drive will take you to the scenic end of the Cape.

Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard: Take a ferry and explore the islands.

National Seashore: Beautiful beaches and lighthouses.

Osterville and Chatham: Shop till you drop!

Great place for vacation.

We spent a week there from 8/15 to 8/22/09. The house was very well-kept and had everything we need. All the neighbors were very, very nice and friendly. The beach is a short stroll down the street, very convenient. Our kids loved to explore all types of sea creatures during low-tides! We had a great time and look forward to coming back in the future. To me, this is what "Cape Cod" is about. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us!

First of all I would like to thank you for allowing us to rent your beautiful home. The private beach down the lane was very nice, unfortunately, I will have to disagree with the previous review because we found the neighbors very nice and accommodating, most being second and third generations living in the same home. We were actually invited to a lobster dinner on one of the nights of our stay, it was fantastic. There was so much to do and see in a stone’s throw away from the house. Just a minute drive, or a five minute walk down the road and we found a Whale Watching tour where we spend one of our mornings, we had to have seen at least six different whales while we were out there. We also had the fortune of catching a Red Sox / A’s game which coming from California was a great experience to say the least.
The house was a great place to just slow down from our regular life, it allowed us to look around and realize how beautiful the world actually is. I would strongly recommend staying at this cottage on Locust Lane, It really felt like a home away from home and I look forward to coming back next year.

This was an older Cape Cod home that has been well maintained with loads of character. It is a very short walk to the beach, very quiet and private. House has 4 large bedrooms that accommodated 7 adults comfortably. Kitchen had all the enmities that we needed to serve a large group of about 15 guests. We loved have the washer and dryer. The location is close to the whale watching ships, horse back riding and beaches galore. There are many restaurants and shopping nearby. Thanks for sharing you home with us, we had a great time and plan to return next year.

The house has not been updated in many years. the kitchen was not clean. drawer & cabinet pulls were sticky with grime. linens were old and towels were threadbare & stained. the potholders were disgusting. neighbors were rude. there is an old sailboat in the yard, but no rigging or sails were made available. there are other rentals in the immediate area which are clean and updated for the same price.
Owner's Response: It is funny how peoples impressions go. You can have 10 groups come through your house and 9 will tell you what a great time they had and want to come back, while one will find fault in everything. Of course a rainy week doesn't help. If you stay at this house you will find it comfortable on a quiet lane leading to a private beach that is there for your enjoyment. We can't control the weather, but there is plenty to do in the area during good and bad weather (restaurants, shopping, whale watch, etc.).
Rest assured the house is professionally cleaned before each visitor arrives. The house isn't a new modern design, but a comfortable home. Come and see for yourself.
