About 10 minutes from the sea and the city. The property sits on 3/4 acre and over looks a large part of the Kona coast. Beautiful Suns Untergaenge, stunning scents of tropical vegetation, romantic location. Dogs, fenced, guarded the property. The owners live upstairs.

A real Garden of Eden, great location, superb view

You wake up in the mornings listening to tropical birds chanting, and may see wild turkey and pheasants parading on the great lawn. The neighborhood, "Kona sunshine Estates", consists of only 7 properties, with manicured lawns, and sprawling tropical flora. This neighborhood seems to be the "Hollywood of Kona". The view is breathtaking, covering most of Kona Bay; you can watch the surf rolling in, and on Wednesdays view the Cruise ship anchored. The two bedrooms are nicely appointed, and the large walk in shower is clean. We found all necessary kitchen appliances, including a big outside grill, and lawn chairs for our use. What a wonderful place! next year, the endless pool and spa will be an additional value. We are coming back for sure!

Lovely View

This was a nice location with great views. The size of the Ohana was very well suited for two couples and the furniture, utensils and TV entertainment were adequate. The location is in great proximity to Kona, Holualoa and access Highways - especially near the beaches. However, I'm afraid I should have read the previous review more closely. There are actually 3 dogs and they often barked for hours and hours, especially when the owner was away. The owner's dog sitter would stop by and calm them down but then for some crazy reason either the owner or her dog sitters chatted loudly into the night while singing. I don't think the owner has actually ever been downstairs while her dogs are running around. Unfortunately they woke us up nightly with thumping noises. The main bedroom was okay although the carpet smelled really bad. The second bedroom was overrun by ants and it was never able to cool down. I would actually give this 3.5 starts. Like the previous reviewer, I would stay here again except considering the inconveniences, the price needs to be greatly reduced or the owner needs to better control her dogs and pet sitters.

Owner's Response: Aloha future guests. Since this review a lot of things has changed. The unhappy little barker "Benny" found a new home on a 3 acre farm in Hilo, where he seems to be more happy and can voice his opinion freely :). Around March there will be a pool and hot tub to enjoy the amazing views, just like a spa! The owner is looking forward to welcome you and enjoy their home and amazing spot in paradise. Must Love Dogs

This vacation home is recently remodeled and has very nice looking furniture and décor. The kitchen had all of the utensils we needed to cook a lovely dinner for all of our friends. It was just a short drive to the beach and had an amazing view of the harbor too. As a bonus, we were able to get a later checkout time for no additional money because our flight wasn't leaving until 10pm. Sabine was very easy to work with and was responsive to all of my emails.

However, there are a few things to note before you decide to rent this location. First and foremost, the people that live upstairs have two dogs. Being a dog owner myself I didn't mind them being there. What my friend and I did mind is the constant barking at all hours of the day. The owners left the dogs outside overnight and the dogs often spent an hour beginning at 11:30pm just barking at nothing. Additionally, if we had had small children with us, they would've been frightened by the larger dog as it did sound quite vicious when it barked.

Also, there is no air conditioning anywhere in the unit. There are ceiling fans in every room but most nights were spent uncomfortably tossing and turning because of the heat. Especially in the second bedroom, which was a small room separate from the rest of the lower unit. I ended up sleeping on the couch the last two nights because the heat in the bedroom had become unbearable.

To get a higher rating from vacationers I would suggest speaking with the owners upstairs to set a "quiet time" in which both the upstairs and the downstairs tenants agree to keeping the volume down. The dog issue needs to be addressed immediately, either put them in the house or kennel them while the lower unit is being rented. I would also recommend an air conditioning unit be put in. There's no reason I should pay $600 for a week's stay and not be able to sleep comfortably when I could stay in a hotel that has air conditioning--and no barking dogs--for the same cost.

Wir haben eine Nacht in den gepflegten, sehr wohnlich und praktisch gestalteten Räumen der Ferienwohnung verbracht. Wir haben den tollen Blick auf Kona und das Meer genossen und am nächsten Tag bedauert, dass wir so wenig Zeit für diesen schönen und stimmungsvollen Ort hatten.
