Stay in Austin's only REAL loft -- that is, an old warehouse that was converted into live/work spaces. The building was built in the 1980s as a produce warehouse, and in 2007 it was converted into 14 live/work space lofts.
This is a one-of-a-kind, architecturally-unique property. It's close enough to all that makes Austin great (hike/bike trails, Lake Austin, Lady Bird Lake, downtown, UT, etc.), but far enough from the crowds to let you relax with peace and quiet while you're at the loft.
The unit is a 2-story end unit, with 16 ft. ceilings upstairs and 10 ft. ceilings downstairs. It has an open floor plan, exposed ducts, and lots of windows that have unobstructed treetop views. There are views of downtown and the 'hill country' from the 2nd story. The only interior doors in the loft are to the bathrooms.
No expense was spared in finishing-out this unit: it includes original and reproduction mid-century furniture; original art from Uruguay, Brazil, California, and NY; and a sophisticated home theater and other electronics, with all rooms wired for sound.
The loft complex is in a re-developing part of Austin and it's surrounded by uniquely-Austin restaurants, bars, clubs, and lounges -- without any 'chain' restaurants, bars, or cafes in the vicinity.
My home away from home is your home away from home.
A few blocks away: the river and the Lance Armstrong Bike Trail. Walking distance: Warehouse District, Central 6th Street, the capitol, LBJ Presidential Library, and the Texas State Cemetary. 3-10 minute drive: SoCo, Lady Bird Lake, Lake Austin, Zilker Park, Barton Springs, and the world's biggest Whole Foods. Airport: 12-15 minute drive (no traffic).

Todd's loft was amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in Austin. The loft had more then enough room and was very comforting, easily fitting 4 people. The location was perfect with amazing food options all around, 15 minute walk to the university and a $15 can ride to the many waterholes around Austin. Todd was super easy to communicate with. I will defiantly be staying in Todd's loft when I am in Austin next, hopefully sooner rather then later.
This set-up is awesome! Owner is gracious & its a secluded loft condo among along a street full of wonderful retaurants. You can easily rent bikes -no need for a car!
We will return!
I stayed here the better part of a week and was enchanted. What a great loft....clean, spacious, interesting decor, and comforts of home. In a very interesting part of town with hip restaurants, retro record store, fun watering holes all within walking distance. Can't wait to return! -ROB
Just spent five nights at the loft and had a wonderful time.
The loft was clean, spacious, decked out with all necessary amenities (washer/dryer, Wi-Fi, internet TV +cable etc.).
There was plenty of room to stretch out the stuff I had brought and relax. Had cousins from New Orleans in town and they paid about three times as much as I did for a tiny room at the San Jose Motel which they didn't even like!
There are loads of places to go in the immediate E.6th Street district. So many restaurants and music clubs it was hard to visit the key other Austin districts like SoCo and downtown 6th Street (which is really close). I'd also recommend checking out the food trucks and White Horse music club.
Took the loft bike out for a ride on the nearby Lady Bird Trail. I did get a flat but was offered a ride home by a gentleman in a pick up truck (Yellow Cab never showed). Austin iss friendly!
Had the flat fixed at a great bike shop around the corner on 7th. Division One bikes. They were incredibly helpful and friendly and installed an sold me a tube for what would be the price of a tube alone back in California.
One suggestion: install some additional curtains in the bedroom to block out the extra light. so much to do in Austin you'll want to sleep in late!
I would definitely stay here again and am already looking forward to it!
"Casual, cosmopolitan, eclectic, five-star, techie, hippie, historic, chic, intellectual, fashionable, artistic, and weird…" (Okay, so I stole that particular list of descriptives from the Downtown Austin Alliance website, but they fit this loft so well!) However, I would have to add the following: Immaculate, comfortable, funky, location...!!!
I hate that it's already taken for SXSW 2013.
I have stayed at this condo at minimum once, sometimes twice, a month for about 6 months and can't begin to share how terrific it is. I tried a lot of other condos and was let down....something was always missing (sheets?! kitchen utencils? power?) or it was misrepresented in the photos. I came to Austin knowing literally nothing about the area and finding this condo has been a dream for me. I bi-locate from the Bay Area and it was hard to find a true home away from home. Any local I show it to is also blown away. It truly is a 5 star experience and super hip and chic. I am a San Franciscan and it reminds me of a lot of the fabulous warehouses here that go for a zillion dollars.
Todd is great to work with, professional and courteous and quick to respond. He clearly takes such pride in the condo and only puts the best into it. Everything is TOP of the line. It is brand new, clean, bright, chic, modern, and offers anything you could possibly need (super cozy sheets/towels/bed and gorgeous kitchen appliances, dishes, etc.)
I have cooked a ton, there is every item you need--pots, pans, etc. It is open, airy and quiet. I stay by myself and it feels very safe. Being inside and towards the back of the complex is terrific (and offers a gorgeous view of the skyline). It is two stories and feels incredibly cozy and comfortable. It is very well lit and a great place to arrive to night or day (I showed up well beyond midnight once and it was so lovely to get in as the complex is lit really well, is accessed by a gate, and is inviting). There is parking that is also behind the gate, the neighbors are really nice, and you have all you need to feel at home (like a washer dryer, dishwasher, etc). The pictures are exactly as it is--even better. I love the fact that it is on the East side, such a hip part of town with great food trailors and a couple of fun bars (East Side Show Room is across the street, great dinner spot called Buenos Aires Cafe right on the corner). It is a very short walk up 6th under the 35 to the heart of downtown. Peddie cabs go as far as the condo as well ;)
Each time I have come in, the place is immaculate, the cleaner does a superb job. I have been when it was 90 degrees and when it was snowing and the temperature is really easy to regulate and there are ceiling fans in each room.
I cant say enough about how great it is!
