Truro....:
If you are looking for R & R with quality time with the family Truro is the place to unwind.
One evening a week during the summer there is a concert on the Truro Commons. Relax with a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers watching the kids dance to the music.
Truro's Harbor has a beautiful back drop over the cape cod bay as the sun sets over Provincetown.
Truro also has a day camp which you can sign up for just a week if you like. Registration for Truro Recreation Camp is held at the Truro Elementary School. The camp runs from July through the third week of August with activities, sports and field trips. (Ages are 5 and up)
Truro has great restaurants: Black Fish Shop, Adrian’s, and Terra Luna.
My favorite is Moby Dick’s on the Wellfleet line. On the deck you can bring your own beverage (wine-beer-martinis) and the seafood is fabulous!
Truro....:
Truro is a quaint and unique community preserved with the riches of the Atlantic Ocean, the beauty of the National Seashore and the Cape Cod Bay.
A source of inspiration to artists and beachcombers alike, Truro's beaches, dunes and landscape of rolling hills are an attraction to tourists and vacationers.
Edward Hopper a prominent American realist painter lived in Truro and painted many of the landscapes.
Places of interest; Cape Cod Highland Light built in 1797 is the oldest, tallest and the strongest light on the Cape. The Highland House Museum a turn of the century summer hotel is a fascinating insight from the Pamet Native American to the present.
The Museum contains 17th century firearms, shipwreck mementos, early fishing and whaling gear, household tools, farming implements, furniture, a pirate’s chest, etc. Don't forget to visit the Truro Vinyards of Cape Cod, stop by, experience the fine wines and stroll through the vineyards.
Wellfleet.....:
Their ocean beaches include three private and one public along Ocean View Drive. On the top of the dunes at Cahoon Hollow Beach an old coast guard station now the Beachcomber Restaurant is another fabulous sea food restaurant with live evening bands. You’ll over hear 50 something’s reminiscing of the good old days at the Beachcomber in the 70’s! The Wellfleet Drive-in at night and flea market during the day, tennis and golf at Chequessett Neck Country Club completes an active vacation. Wednesday evenings at the Mayo Beach parking lot there is square dancing (6-8:30pm). Wellfleet has a small down town area with shopping, Winslow Tavern Restaurant, art galleries, fish markets etc. If you are interested in surfing and would like expert advice or arrange a lesson, contact SICKDAY Surf Shop (508-214-4158).
