Our week long family vacation; it was GREAT!

The view from the home was great! The beach was so easy to walk to and you can even watch your kids from the deck or below if you weren't ready to go when they were. It was nice having the closed in outside shower and a sink with counter space for cleaning fish (which my husband and sons caught about 30 keepers in all). The inside was very comfortable and had everything you should need. Most of the time we played on the beach; fished; looked for shells; looked for hermit crabs; built sand castles and animals; and we all loved playing in the waves. We did all of our meals at the house with the exception of going to Joe's Crab Shack the day we went to Moody Garden's. We are already talking about our vacation next year back at Andrea's Retreat. The only thing I would suggest is all of the downstairs area being cement. My husband washed sand off the area 2 times a day. By the way, our friends rented the home next door called Azure Vista and they will be going back next year also. We had a great time, and again.....can't wait until next year gets here to go back again. There is quite a bit of things to do in Galveston, but my family and I really enjoy our time hanging out at the beach and playing.

Owner's Response: We appreciate this reviewers kind comments. This group is one of several who have indicated plans to return next year. Regarding the accumulation of sand, the hurricane destroyed much of the vegetation in the area. This allows sand to blow into the yard and under the house. The vegetation will return in time and this will no longer be a problem. This has been an unusually dry season and although we have planted grass seed and sodded, grass has been slow to return. Spring rains and dune replacement, scheduled to begin in October, should greatly alleviate this problem.
