Local Attractions:
Berkeley is only a bridge away from San Francisco, making it a wonderful place to stay when visiting the Bay Area. For visiting scholars at UC Berkeley, it's ideal, since the free shuttle and Lawrence Hall of Sciences is a short walk away. Down the hill you can enjoy world-class restaurants, including the famous Chez Panisse, lots of boutique shopping, live theater and dance, museums, and movie theaters.
Naturalists will enjoy the nearby Tilden Park, with miles of hiking, biking and walking trails. Families can entertain kids with a host of local parks, the nearby Carousel, Steam Train and Little Farm. And seeing deer walking around the neighborhood is always a delight.
Easy Transportation:
The bus stop is less than a block away, and it's easy to walk to the Lawrence Hall of Sciences, where a shuttle can take you directly to UC Berkeley and downtown. BART can take you anywhere in the Bay Area, including the airport, San Francisco and the South Bay. Street parking is very easy any time of day.
Family Friendly:
While we have a Queen-size bed in the studio, we will be happy to offer extra blankets to make a cozy space on the floor for kids. And since we have two kids ourselves, we will happily share toys and books to help entertain your little one.
Ski:
Lake Tahoe offers world-class skiing and is only a few hours away. We will be happy to provide information on places to ski, especially because our family enjoys the sport, too.
Golf:
Nearby Tilden Park has a BEAUTIFUL golf course that's open to the public. Surrounded by trees, it's really a golfer's paradise. In addition to a full course, there's also a driving range and lovely chalet. We live walking distance from the golf course, though we recommend driving if you are carrying heavy clubs.
