The town of Little Compton founded by a band of explorers from Plymouth Colony seeking to expand their settlement along the Massachusetts coastline. The land they chose, just twenty square miles situated on a peninsula sixty miles southwest of Plymouth, Massachusetts, was originally named Sakonnet because it was home of the 'Sagonate' or 'Sakonnet' Indians. It was in Little Compton that the famous Rhode Island Red, (a breed of fowl and the State Bird), was developed. Now, the town has also developed into an ideal vacation spot with the traditional atmosphere of colonial New England. It maintains its charm by holding on to its rich history, striving to keep it 'little' and be the 'best kept secret of New England'.

Little Compton is unlike anywhere you've been. It's so great, you WON'T want to tell anyone about it!!! Once you're here for a day, you become a local! The house is set for you to enjoy your time and surroundings. It's nice and clean so you feel comfortable, well-appointed so you feel special and but not too fancy where you can't relax. Truly a nice home away from home! Have your fill of the fantastic beach and/or shops, museums and historical sites during the day and enjoy a drink on the deck and watch the sky come alive with the beautiful sunsets and relaxing vision of osprey gliding through the sky with the blue and silver glistening of the water as a backdrop. After 2 days, you'll want to be added to our list of regulars! See ya next year!

We rented in mid August and had a great week. The house was very clean, very comfortable, and there were a few nights we were very glad there was an air conditioning option. The view (and soothing cricket chirps) from the porch overlooking the wide part of the Sakonnet river were very relaxing, and great place to catch the sunset. Can definitely see why folks appear to be repeat renters.

The house was lovely- very bright and immaculate. It was well appointed with everything that we needed. The owner was very nice and accessible. You do have to drive to any beaches, etc. however the comfort of the house makes it worth it.

Our stay was just wonderful. We were one of the first families to stay in this warm, beautifully decorated and very comfortable get-away. It was one of the nicest places we've ever stayed on Little Compton and we have been vacationing there for a number of years. It has everything you would need to make your vacation a real pleasure. Home-away-from-home feel. Whether you're having your tea in the morning or cocktails with friends in the evening the views from the deck just breath-taking. You'll love it. My husband loved the grill and my son really enjoyed the ping pong table, it was a great experience overall. What was really great was that we were up and on the beach in minutes, that was nice. The owners were very easy to deal with and responsive to phone calls, etc. Enjoy!

My family loved the house and the location. We've rented a few different houses in the area over the years and this is by far the best one. Really nice inside and out, clean and comfortable! It is as described, the owner is very honest and upfront and true to their word. We'll be booking again!
