Dream Island Getaway is located on a charming quiet cul-de-sac on the northern end of Longboat Key.

Its setting is lush and tropical and its recent landscaping is varied and beautiful.

Living/dining area, master and guest bedrooms all open onto the lanai/pool area and the house is situated on a canal. A 42" mounted HD flat screen is in the living area and the 2 bedrooms both have mounted flat screen TV's. Linens and towels are provided. A new gas grill is located outside the pool area and is hooked up to a gas line--so no propane tanks are needed. A canal-side patio with a chiminea is also a great place to relax ; frequently in the winter manatees can be seen swimming by. A solar pool cover is also available should you wish to heat the pool in the winter months.

If you love boating and fishing, rent a boat at Cannon's Marina (at the top of our street) and investigate the Gulf or Sarasota Bay. Access to the white sandy beaches of the Gulf of Mexico is only a short walk away. Busch Gardens and Disney are also great day-trip adventures. CA d'Zan ( John and Mabel Ringling's mansion), Ringling Museum of Art, 2 circus museums and Marie Selby Botanical Gardens are great to visit. The Asolo, Sarasota's Repertory Theatre, the Van Wezel Center for Performing Arts, the Opera House and Sarasota Orchestra all contribute to the area's unique cultural richness.

Rent bikes at BackYard Bike Shop (nearby) and take a 5 minute bike ride to the beach (Gulfside Dr beach access)

For all baseball fans -- enjoy spring training games all March for the following nearby teams:

About The Owner

We are both retired publishing professionals, have 3 great kids, 2 schnauzers (Sally & Miles) and love antique homes, gardening, the Red Sox and the Celtics.

Why The Owner chose Longboat Key

The house was built in 1970 by my husband's parents and we have been coming here ever since. The kids would be so excited when a trip was planned.. We have had wonderful memories & many good times here!

Thank You Again! For sharing your Wonderful home with us, We spent a week in this bright updated wonderfully clean home,loved the pool area with views of the canal and dock,enjoyed mourning coffee by the pool, and grilled out in the evening's. Eat at Harry's for lunch & Dinner great service and wonderful food, also try the Dry dock for lunch or supper nice view of the bay.Kayak with Almost Heaven tour on Lido Key.
This home has every thing you will need for a wonderful vacation, Very comfortable beds plenty of spare towels. And don't forget your bicycles Island is a great place to ride.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

Sally & Miles: Thank you for sharing you wonderful home with us, what a great place to relax only a short walk to the beach, Shops in St Armands are a fun day, eat at The Salty Dog great view of the bay.
Your home is very clean and well equipped love the pool, kept our boat at your dock and fished every day.
Look forward to a return trip to your secluded home.

We loved this property! It is extremely comfortable
for two couples as it is arranged so that there is a
bedroom and bath on each end of the house,
assuring privacy. There is a third bedroom also.
The master bathroom is deluxe. The kitchen is well
appointed and well laid out.There's also an outdoor
grill. The livingroom is very comfortable and has a
great tv. The dining area is also really nice. There is
a large garage and washing machine/dryer. The
grounds are lovely, and the house is privately
located in a very pretty old neighborhood on a
canal. The gorgeous and very quiet beach is a short
walk away. The best part of all is the pool in the
lanai with comfortable sitting and dining areas
behind it. My favorite "activity" was sitting on the
patio outside the lanai next to the canal, watching
the great variety of birds, fish, and even a manatee
passed by! The property is family owned, and we
found the owners to be delightful. We highly
recommend this property!
