LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION........Paradise at your doorstep. Welcome to world famous Sunset Beach in North Shore Oahu, Hawaii. Settle into your beautifully restored beach house, with 50ft of spectacular white sandy beach frontage. Listen as the waves roll in, a gull cries and a gentle breeze stirs the palms. Breathe the fresh ocean air after you have strolled down the small lane that leads to a gated driveway, which offers privacy minus the road noises.
Watch as surfers catch a ride on the surf breaks of Kammies, Monster Mush, Rocky Point and Sunset.
Recently refurbished, Sunset Beach House consists of two separate structures – the front structure being the main home consists of 2 bedrooms/1 bathroom and the back structure being the guest home also consists of 2 bedrooms/1 bathroom.
Whether it’s the big waves of the winter or the tranquil paradise of the summer, this holiday home on Sunset Beach is your ticket to infinite possibilities.
At the end of the day, wander outside and discover why Sunset Beach is called just that. Take a deep breath, look out over the ocean and . . . exhale. *You’re on vacation. It’s time to relax.
Wow. The location of this property is spectacular - I can not imagine how anything could be better. There is a broad, clean beach just outside the gate, and the sound of vigorous surf fills the house and provides your 24/7 sound track. During our late February visit the ocean was filled with whales, seemingly waving to us from just offshore. While surfers were plentiful at the nearby public access points (and easily visible for "surfer watching"), the beach in front of us was so empty it felt almost private. This is a paradise I would definitely visit again. A note on the property - the cottage is delightful in it's simplicity and lack of ostentation. For us, an extended family of 3 adult couples and an older mother/ mother-in-law, the configuration of two separate cottages on on property was perfect.
I loved staying here, sitting on the deck while watching/listening to the waves crash on the beach never got old day or night. The sunsets are unreal, the stars are bright, and the sunsets are incredible.
Some friends and I needed a place to stay on the North Shore to attend a mutual friend's wedding in late October. Our desires were that the place sleep six adults, has direct access to the beach, is reasonably priced, and is relatively close to all amenities. This place fits all of those criteria and is also a great place.
The house is up to date with new appliances including a 32" HDTV. There is wifi and it has reliably good speeds, I found that 10-15M down was typical. The kitchen has the usual appliances as well as a blender and a coffee maker. The place was very clean and there were plenty of beach towels. There's a laundry room in case you need to wash any clothes and said beach towels.
There's a grocery store five minutes down the road and a gas station less than a block away. Swimming in the ocean in late October isn't recommended in front of the house, though the surf was good given that there was a competition happening 400 yards down the beach. Waimea is 10 minutes away by car and has great swimming.
If there's any flaws, they have to do with cooking. The knives were very dull, I couldn't find one that would cut through the skin of a salmon filet, the grill is charcoal which can be difficult to light during the frequently windy conditions, and there was no food storage containers so stock up on glad wrap at the store. The deck, which I could happily spend the rest of my life on, is super slippery when wet so keep some footwear on the back deck (no footwear in the house).
I'm now trying to figure out when I can get back to this gem on the North Shore.
Our family of 6 (2 adults 4 kids ranging from 14-6) had a wonderful, restful vacation in the lovely beach front house. The week we stayed the weather was transitioning from winter to summer weather so some days the beach could be rough and some days the beach could be mild (older kids able to swim & snorkel). The surfing here is not for the beginner but intermediate and advanced surfers can handle it. My family had mostly beginning surfers so we surfed in Haleiwa with Sunset Suzy Surf school. It was great to surf with green turtles there. But it was always a pleasure to look out and see surfers enjoying themselves & catching awesome waves.
The house was a wonderful little bungalow with plenty of room for our family. It was delightful to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean. Eating breakfast out on the deck we were able to watch the geckos and the local birds every morning. We were also lucky to see humpback whales out in the distance on a number of days.
The beach in front of the house felt like our own private paradise. Most of the time we were the only ones there. Beautiful sand, seashells, and a close walk to Sunset Beach.
Oh and the Sunsets were beautiful too!!
Having a washer/dryer also helped. There were lots of towels provided and having a place to dry our beach towels certainly helped.
We loved our stay at this house and hope to return someday. It was perfectly lovely!
What a vacation, thank you very much William as your home far exceeded our expectations.
Your home was perfect for my family as my 4 young children absolutely loved playing in your yard and on the beach directly in front, they spent hours playing the shorebreak with their bodyboards.
When I was looking at your home on VRBO I read your last review so I wasn't expecting allot of beach directly in front of your home however when we arrived we found a massive beach. Also, the view from your home are breathtaking especially from the front deck. My kids were so excited to see whales, turtles and a big monk seal all of which were spotted from your front deck!!!!
The other great thing about your home is the back guest house, it really worked well for our stay as my parents who joined us on our vacation could escape every so often and get some quiet time away from the grandchildren.
We'll be back for sure as this was our most enjoyable family vacation yet and your home was perfect, I now understand why it's always so booked!!
We had a wonderful summer vacation at this place.
The location is incredible: you just cross the garden, push the little barrier and you're on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. There's even a nice "surfbreak" just in front of the house a few hundred feet from the beach ( we were there during summer, during winter it's for pro surfers only).
Being from Montréal (near the North Pole) we dream of summer and beaches at least six months a year: Sunset Beach was our dream come true. Once on the beach you can walk on the sand for miles and realize that you are lucky because you got one of the best spots on the North Shore. From the house to Haleiwa there are at least a dozen beaches where you can swim, surf, snorkel or watch sea turtles. If you have small kids and are looking for really gentle waves the house is about 300 feet South of Sunset Beach Park where you will find calm waters and lifeguards.
About the house now, well the photos show you exactly what you get. The house was very clean and very well taken care of. We appreciated the attached unit where our teenage children would sleep, giving us (the parents) more privacy and quietness at night. There were only the four of us but you can easily sleep 8 in the house.
As an added bonus, the manager is surf legend Ken Bradshaw (google his name and see!). Ken is a nice man and he was very helpful when we were there. For example, back in Honolulu our daughter discovered that she had forgotten a purse at the house. Ken managed to have the bag delivered to our hotel a few hours later. Thanks again, Ken! (And you can have a surf lesson with him even if you are a beginner)
I almost forgot to tell you that from the patio where we had most of our meals you will watch the most beautiful sunsets with incredible shapes and colours: there's a good reason why it's called Sunset Beach...
Rent this house, you won't regret it
We had a great 10 Days at the Sunset Beach House. The set up worked perfectly for our family of 8.
The view out to the ocean is spectacular. We ate dinner on the deck and enjoyed the sunsets. The home is bug free, which is not always the case in the Tropics. There is no beach right now behind the home, just a drop off to the ocean, but we were still able to walk about 3 minutes to get to a sandy spot to put our chairs and swim etc. The caretaker came by to make sure we were ok and we had no issues. It really is a fantastic rental with a great value.
