Villa Pacifica is located at the crossroads of the Americas, easy to get to from North and South America. It reminds me of Hawaii 40 years ago, with miles of deserted beaches, great seafood that is easy to buy, friendly people, a quiet place to relax and enjoy life roll by. How many times, have I wondered what it would be like to have a beach steps from my front door a beach that I can walk and spend hours enjoying its beauty and serenity. I have travelled the world, and wow, this is a special place.
The Owner purchased this house in 2009
This area is a laid back fishing and ranching town. The town people are friendly. There are few tourist! Great fishing and beach activities are available. Going out to the local diners does not break the bank, nor do you have to make reservations or wait in lines. There are now a French, Spanish and Italian restaraunts to dine at, with the chefs coming from their respective countries. How simple life is. Each villa is individually designed and owned.
Walking on the beach as the sun rises each morning -- how better can that be! Away from everything, relaxing without the noise of news casts or sirens or horn blowing. The noise comes from the breaking surf each night as you fall asleep. Or if you sit and stare, the flight of birds will entertain you.
We had an amazing time at Villa Pacifica. The house was beautiful and comfortably slept our two families. Mornings were spent enjoying a cup of coffee overlooking the ocean, alongside the beautiful infinity pool. We enjoyed walks/runs on the beach, playing in the sand and waves, making meals in a spacious and fully stocked kitchen, our children's laughter as they played in the pool, and adult conversation under the stars. Maria, the owner's assistant was a great help, arriving every day to freshen up the beds and bathrooms and even help with laundry. As a mother of four children, this was greatly appreciated! All of Greg's recommendations for restaurants and grocery stores came in very handy. We enjoyed a casual Panamanian lunch at Isla Iguana and one evening we had an exquisite, fancier dinner while feeling the ocean breeze at Amareto, a new restaurant near the villa.
Our families return to Panama every other year and we are hoping to return to the villa in the future!
SO RELAXING! 6 of us (4 adults & 2 kids) spent 5 nights at Villa Pacifica and it was wonderful! The home's interior is beautiful and the layout worked well for our family. The bedrooms were spacious, the beds comfortable, the kitchen well-stocked, the AC worked well and there were plenty of bathrooms. The pool was a hit with all of us along with walks on the beach, star gazing and the tide pools. There were few people on the beach and when the waves were smaller, we were able to swim. Maria, the housekeeper, was so kind and luckily we spoke a little Spanish! Greg, the owner, was very responsive with a few questions that came up.
We enjoyed the town, a tour to Playa Iguana and a drive to Playa Venao. The grocery store in town has quite a few options and we found ourselves cooking at the house for most meals (we were never able to figure out the grill!).
My only suggestions would be that the ocean-side exterior of house has really taken a beating from the ocean air and heat and could use a facelift. We also would have enjoyed an outdoor table and a bit more furniture in the bedrooms (bedside tables near downstairs bed).
All in all, Villa Pacifica is a wonderful place to stay and we highly recommend it for your trip to Panama without hesitation! Thank you, Greg!
A spacious home on the beach, with a wonderful lap, infinity pool. Ideal for families with children or teenagers. Everything was functional in the kitchen, bathroom, hot water, air conditioner, etc. House was very clean as was the grounds and pool. We could not get the wifi to work, but the maid tried ,unsuccessfully. The stairs were elegant but rather steep for my 84 year old mother and no handrails at the bottom. For this reason I would not recommend the upstairs bedrooms for very small children and the handicapped. There is a bedroom downstairs. No TV! Not needed!!
My husband and I, along with our two best friends traveled to a few different destinations in Panama in December 2012. We all agree that our time at Villa Pacifica was the absolute gem of the entire trip. We tend to have high expectations too! The view is even more beautiful than the photos suggest. There is much to explore. The home and accompanying pool leave nothing to be desired in terms of relaxation and comfort--the beds were fantastic, which can be hard to find in a vacation rental. The beauty, isolation, and roominess of the home provide the perfect setting for fun with friends and for meditation, relaxation and deep breathing. The vibe of the place was so perfect I just couldn't sleep in past about 6-7 am, I was too excited to be up (don't worry, our friends who are not morning people had no problem sleeping in late)! In addition to relaxation -- the waves get pretty rambunctious at different points of the day, so you can get some very fun boogie boarding in!
The kitchen is large and functional. We had breakfast and lunch at home almost every day -- although no microwave when we were there or basics like salt or cooking oil, so take stock of those things in advance. Maria the housekeeper and Greg the owner (lives abroad) were both lovely, helpful people. You can trust Greg's advice about what's good in terms of food, and you can trust Maria to take excellent care of the house.
Pedasi was no slouch either (all recommendations came from Greg and await you in the house) -- a wonderful coffee shop to get lattes, bread, or morning pastries, or to hang out on the porch in the evening after dinner with dessert and coffee. Smileys, despite a name that might seem cheesy, is absolutely excellent. Between the four of us we had 8 different meals while there and every one of them was superb (and we're snobby food nerds from Portland). "Santa Claus Jack" runs another small restaurant in town with fresh seafood, generous hospitality, and some the best yucca and pantacones of our entire trip! No more on the restaurants though, Greg's got you covered on recommendations!
In summary -- do not hesitate to visit Villa Pacifica. The drive in from Panama City is beautiful and a really fun way to see the countryside, so don't let distance deter you at all. Bring a deck of cards for some late night fun with friends around the table while you watch the lightning (if in season) and some good sunscreen and you will be set for an amazing time!!
Its hard to describe the feeling of falling asleep every night to the sound of waves crashing on the beach right in front of you. You really have to be there. We had a great time at Villa Pacifica. Everything was perfect. The house was very nice and clean and well taken care of. We loved having a swimming pool overlooking the ocean and the beach was amazing as it was wide, wild and beautiful and you could walk for hours and not see a soul. We had a wonderful romantic and delicious dinner just up the street at the Villa Romana B&B. We loved the little town of Pedasi and the lush green hills (with the floppy eared cows my wife loves) surrounding the area. We visited in the rainy season which wasn't too bad as far as rain goes, and everything was very beautiful and green. The intense lightening storms at night were amazing and made for great entertainment. We definitely recommend this home to anyone who wants an elegant, relaxing stay in a gorgeous rural beach/ countryside setting. We hope to be able to go back someday!
The house is fantastic - really good shape, beautifully designed and tastefully decorated. It sleeps 6 comfortably and the kitchen is clean and well equipped. The pool is great, infinity, fresh and clean. The ocean likewise, though not ideal for small children because of waves and current. The area is gorgeous and secluded - perfect place for relaxing and reflection, not much to do, but there is a good restaurant futher down the beach. Several other good beaches nearby. Would go back in a heartbeat!
During the months from July to October, the turtles lays its eggs at Isla Canas about an hour drive.
Year round, take a trip to Playa Venao for surfing, there is a billabong shop there, about a 35 minute drive.
