Our gorgeous, two-bedroom, beach front apartment is in Villas Playasol, an intimate and secure condo complex located on the soft white sand of Mexico’s Riviera Maya. With an ocean view and just steps from the sea and the biggest blue pool in Puerto Morelos, our modern little Mexican hide-away is a wonderful vacation choice for couples or families. Puerto Morelos is a friendly fishing village with a good mix of European, North American, and Mexican families. The downtown square features a supermarket, gift shops, and a number of restaurants to fit most tastes and budgets. Playa Sol is a short walk away, either by the street or on the beach. Our condo features a shady breakfast balcony, pool and ocean view, plus manicured tropical gardens. This is not just a rental property — it’s our summer home! We offer an on-site, English-speaking manager plus we rent for our neighbors if we're booked. Ask about availability or check our website for our Blue Monkey in-town apartments.

If you're into wet-tee shirt contests and loud parties, this is not the place for you. Puerto Morelos is a laid-back fishing village with an appealing mix of Mexican, Canadian, American, and European residents. Our location offers easy access to the Maya ruins of Chichen Itza, Tulum, Ek Balam, and Coba. Other itineraries can include the colonial city of Valladolid, the island of women, Isla Mujeres, Cozumel, or the flamingos of Rio Lagartos. In PM you're close to fun shopping and enticing nightlife in Cancun and Playa del Carmen but away from the noise and bustle of those crowded tourist attractions. Beachcombers will enjoy long walks on deserted beaches or swimming and snorkeling the colorful reef just off our shore. We have such good snorkeling that the reef has been declared a Marine National Park.

More words...: We really enjoyed our vacation. Puerto Morelos seemed to be the Mayberry of Mexico. It was truly a gem. Quite a variety of dining options and everyone was so nice. The beach was great and very empty during the week, a great contrast to the family action on Sunday. We called Charlie Brown for a snorkel adventure one afternoon, and spent our last day hiking in the botanical garden nearby. We were amazed at the amount of birds (isbis, egrets, etc..) in the mangroves on the road into town. We enjoyed our tea on the balcony...lots of fun. Your book was a real help. Last but not least...: I just wanted to let you know what a fabulous week we had at Playasol. We weren't at all ambitious, and mostly hung around close to 'home'. It was Holy Week so the beach was delightfully busy with Mexican families on holiday, enjoying sun, water, and each other--a lovely carnival atmosphere that added to our enjoyment. And, how nice it was to be in a place that felt like a home, not a sterile rental. Although we didn't end up making use of them, it was nice to have all the books and movies etc. around. And only once before (in Britain, no surprise!) have I rented a place that came complete with a tea cozy!
