Blue Heron was everything we needed for our young family and more. It really is just as beautiful as the photos show it to be, in fact we think nicer. The lake and view are gorgeous especially at sunset, and you are literally steps away from lakefront! The hosts were wonderful to book with and were so helpful all through the entire process, very responsive to our endless questions, and very, very organized. It’s the perfect base for exploring beautiful Algonquin country. We had two rainy days, and was so impressed with the board games left out for us – I forgot how much fun a family board game can be! Our kids 5 & 7, absolutely LOVED the lakefront treehouse and gym swing set on the property. Not sure what we could do on a rainy day, so we called Susan and took advantage of her recommendation to go out to the Algonquin Visitors center. Wow my kids, husband and I spent the entire day and were captured by the displays and my kids came back wanting to return for more. That’s a must see for sure, all ages would be impressed
We would highly recommend this property - you won't be disappointed!
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Blue Heron. It was a true Canadian experience. The time we had was amazing, our little grandson (23 months) really enjoyed the space and freedom that is not possible in a hotel! Thank you for making our holiday very special. Everything was beautifully prepared and very welcoming after a long travel from Germany. It makes a nice change to turn up at a property and find it just as advertised (or even better). We have rented properties before which have turned out to be over sold. This was certainly not the case here!
With very best wishes from the Fleischer family
We have now stayed at Blue Heron several times and it feels like coming home which is due to the warmth and hospitality of the owners . The cottage is first class and absolutely everything is provided to make every vacationer comfortable. The location can't be beat, its in between THREE awesome provincial parks, so we and our Goldendoodle try out a new hiking trail each visit and experience something new each time. This trip we saw a quartz rock the size of a car at Limberlost Trails just 10 minutes away! Our favourite is to end each day around the fire pit, or indoors in front of the fireplace.
It's a perfect retreat for couples! See you again soon!

My husband and I stayed here as our home base while attending a family anniversary at nearby Norseman Restaurant. Delightful time and conveniently close by! We were seeking cleanliness and comfort and found it at Blue Heron. It far exceeded our expectations, it was immaculate, well designed, and spotlessly clean which is very important to us since I have several allergies.
What impressed my husband Stanley, was amount of picturesque windows in every room, we counted two in bathroom, two in kitchen, two in the master-room and three large ones in main family room (includes the glass walkout doors) All overlook such a peaceful lakefront setting. Yesterday we saw deer grazing just three feet away!
A little about the host Susan. She was absolutely adorable, so thoughtful, organized and accommodating to our personal needs. She had no problem when I asked her to stock the frig ahead of our late night arrival, and we were both impressed with her attention to detail. I loved her special touch of leaving out cream and some complimentary fair trade coffee. That Muskoka Maple is wonderful I might add. Nice to know its locally made. As seniors, we were impressed how Blue Heron was well shovelled, lit and sanded. Its those details why we definitely will return. Im a fussy in nature, so only improvement I would add is to include a few more small teaspoons in the pantry.
Just a little on the side We just learned that Limberlost Road, the town of Huntsville, and algonquin Park have many art venues and galleries. Its a true passion of ours so thought Id share.
I would be only too happy to share my experiences at Blue Heron to anyone that may be interested in emailing us. I left our email and permission with Susan

Oh we very much enjoyed it.. It was a great trip, the place was great, the arrowhead park was pretty much awesome (tubing was our favorite but we went skating as well). Our first trip to up north was a success. You have done an incredible job, from the information binder you gave us, to the music you had playing when we first walked in and even the thought of including the cream in the fridge.. Truly a spectacular experience. I really couldn't give you any feedback for it was far better than anything we have had in mind..
Before we were leaving, we were already talking about a summer trip up there but we couldn't really decide on dates. I will let you know if we decide anything on that front..Thank you again, we've had a great trip!
Tolga (my family thanks you as well)
This is our second time at the blue heron...we love it. It's clean, affordable, great location, lake view, close to Huntsville, and close to parks (hidden valley and arrowhead). Susan is great and will definitely be back. We love Muskoka...both summer and winter. Can't get enough if it...and wouldn't stay anywhere else...great for a family get away.
