Perfect for seniors too

My husband and I stayed here as our home base while attending a family anniversary at nearby Norseman Restaurant. Delightful time and conveniently close by! We were seeking cleanliness and comfort and found it at Blue Heron. It far exceeded our expectations, it was immaculate, well designed, and spotlessly clean which is very important to us since I have several allergies.

What impressed my husband Stanley, was amount of picturesque windows in every room, we counted two in bathroom, two in kitchen, two in the master-room and three large ones in main family room (includes the glass walkout doors) All overlook such a peaceful lakefront setting. Yesterday we saw deer grazing just three feet away!

A little about the host Susan. She was absolutely adorable, so thoughtful, organized and accommodating to our personal needs. She had no problem when I asked her to stock the frig ahead of our late night arrival, and we were both impressed with her attention to detail. I loved her special touch of leaving out cream and some complimentary fair trade coffee. That Muskoka Maple is wonderful I might add. Nice to know its locally made. As seniors, we were impressed how Blue Heron was well shovelled, lit and sanded. Its those details why we definitely will return. Im a fussy in nature, so only improvement I would add is to include a few more small teaspoons in the pantry.

Just a little on the side We just learned that Limberlost Road, the town of Huntsville, and algonquin Park have many art venues and galleries. Its a true passion of ours so thought Id share.

I would be only too happy to share my experiences at Blue Heron to anyone that may be interested in emailing us. I left our email and permission with Susan

Owner's Response: Thank you Cecile and Stanley for taking the time to write such a positive review! So glad you enjoyed our local 100% certified fair trade coffee we put out for all our guests. We proudly support many businesses in our area and Muskoka Roastery is our favourite too! We leave out place settings enough for 6 , but will ensure that few extra teaspoons are on hand for future use. We cater to everyone's individual needs.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay and are bringing back wonderful anniversary memories. We look forward in seeing you both again soon!

Take care for now,
Susan, Blue Heron

Hi Susan,
Oh we very much enjoyed it.. It was a great trip, the place was great, the arrowhead park was pretty much awesome (tubing was our favorite but we went skating as well). Our first trip to up north was a success. You have done an incredible job, from the information binder you gave us, to the music you had playing when we first walked in and even the thought of including the cream in the fridge.. Truly a spectacular experience. I really couldn't give you any feedback for it was far better than anything we have had in mind..

Before we were leaving, we were already talking about a summer trip up there but we couldn't really decide on dates. I will let you know if we decide anything on that front..Thank you again, we've had a great trip!

Tolga (my family thanks you as well)
Owner's Response: Dear Tolga and Family

We really are looking forward to seeing again in the very near future.
Take care
Susan and Shawn

This is our second time at the blue heron...we love it. It's clean, affordable, great location, lake view, close to Huntsville, and close to parks (hidden valley and arrowhead). Susan is great and will definitely be back. We love Muskoka...both summer and winter. Can't get enough if it...and wouldn't stay anywhere else...great for a family get away.
Owner's Response: Welcome back Stephania and Donato! Thanks so much for such a positive review. We love Muskoka too!
Enjoy your cross Canada venture this summer!
Take care for now,
Susan

A Lovely Place For a Winter or Summer Get-Away

Blue Heron is a wonderful place to stay--a beautiful setting in a wonderful location. All the amenities one could ask for and the owners were responsive and accessible in making arrangements, offering suggestions, answering questions, etc. The property itself was very well maintained, very clean, and extremely comfortable. The location is close to ski areas, Huntsville (a charming town), beautiful scenery, and a lake for swimming, etc., during the summer months.
All the necessities were provided and in good working order, e.g. a fireplace, a kitchen with every appliance one could want, a TV and DVD, a large living room with comfortable seating areas, a kitchen with an island for easy food preparation, wood available for fires, etc.
I would highly recommend Blue Heron as an outstanding place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Ontario. Plus, the owners have done an excellent job of making Blue Heron feel welcoming and comfortable. We hated to leave Blue Heron!

Beautiful property and great amenities. It was everything we imagined and hoped for. Very relaxing country setting. Not too far from Algonquin Park. Beautiful lake with wildlife. Couldn't ask for a better location and relaxing place to stay. My favourite hang out area was on the hammock overlooking the lake.
