About Tom & Diane Doyle

Property is owned by Tom and Diane Doyle.

Tom & Diane Doyle purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Tom & Diane Doyle chose Honor

We bought this old cabin because it was suitable for our large family and is located on a very quiet, safe lake surrounded by Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. We enjoy being close to the Lake Michigan shoreline as well as the abundant wildlife that is ever present around the area.

What makes this cabin unique

Quite private and surrounded by woods along the shoreline of Long Lake right off M-22. Well back from the road.

Winter time bliss

  • 5 of 5

Talk about an amazing rustic cozy warm place to winter up, This is it!

Arrived on a Saturday in February and stayed 3 very comfortable nights.

Did some snowshoeing around the cabin and lake and found out we were pretty

much it as far as other humans go this time of year, with most of the other cottages

seeming closed for the winter. Nice and Quiet... Enjoyed the well stocked book shelf and the amazing assortment of vintage games too, and NO TV! (Beautiful).

Really appreciated the well stocked kitchen and cupboards, as we like to dine fine,

and dine fine we did.... Hope to come back again.

What an amazing place.

What a great place! The lake was so beautiful and surprisingly warm in late may. We spent all day by the water. I hope we can return next summer. Tom was super easy to communicate with, very helpful and accommodating :) thanks for a memorable and relaxing vacation.

Perfect for a "Wilderness" Gathering

  • 5 of 5

What a cozy cabin in the chill of mid-May for 10 women who gathered to support the organization the Great Old Broads for Wilderness. The rustic, and well-maintained cabin met our needs perfectly, from the sleeping arrangements to the well-equipped kitchen and the fire-place in the living room. The owner was especially helpful and only a phone call away if needed. We enjoyed the proximity of a restaurant, the Manitou, and of course, the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. We would recommend this setting and cabin for a family or group gathering. Set on a small and beautiful lake, it offers great opportunities for water activities, swimming, boating, etc.

September week long stay

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is exactly as advertised! We wanted to unplug from the world and Doyle Camp was the ticket. It was close to hiking trails, Traverse City, kayaking and Lake Michigan. The lake beach was in pristine shape and our three labs thoroughly enjoyed the setting as well. I highly recommend the cabin for a rustic get away.

Wonderful family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Birch Ridge for Spring Break 2013 and loved it so much we came back for a week in June to celebrate our parents 40th wedding anniversary.

There is so much to experience at Birch Ridge. We spent time swimming and kayaking on Long Lake, we hiked The Old Indian Trail to the Lake Michigan beach and we tubed the river into Lake Michigan at Sleeping Bear Dunes park.

The dorm style sleeping arrangements were perfect for all the cousins and the very large wooded site offered tons of privacy.

Tom was absolutely wonderful in answering our questions by email and text and the cabin was VERY clean when we arrived. We will be back!

Perfect getaway spot for families

  • 5 of 5

Our family treasured this experience. The cabin is rustic and beautiful. With exposed beams in the kitchen, it was actually a pleasure to cook and wash dishes. The lake is pristine and shallow for a good way out -- perfect for young swimmers. We also enjoyed trying out the kayaks -- our first time.

There is so much to do in the area apart from the lake. We hiked the Sleeping Bear a couple of times since it's a short walk from the cabin. The road where the cabin is located is flat and quiet -- perfect for jogging or biking. Charlevoix was a nice half-day trip. Don't miss the mushroom houses.

The Doyles are very friendly and easy to work with. We would definitely go back!

Notes:
Not many amenities. In fact we do not supply a TV or a DVD player or Internet Access. If that is what you are looking for, this is not your place. However if you want peace and quiet with comfortable sleeping for 14 in a rustic Old Log Cabin in the woods on a beautiful lake with dark starry skies you might want to check this out. Functional kitchen with typical appliances including electric stove, modern refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, Weber Grill, plenty of pots and pans and dishes. Lakefront Amenities include the following: 50' dock, however water is shallow at end of dock, about 2' - 3' deep. Not ideal for power boats. Jet Ski's are prohibited by us. Some folks have them, but we don't like them and we ask that our guests refrain from bringing them on the lake. 1 rowboat, 3 kayaks, 1 canoe.
