Notes: Not many amenities. In fact we do not supply a TV or a DVD player or Internet Access. If that is what you are looking for, this is not your place. However if you want peace and quiet with comfortable sleeping for 14 in a rustic Old Log Cabin in the woods on a beautiful lake with dark starry skies you might want to check this out. Functional kitchen with typical appliances including electric stove, modern refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, Weber Grill, plenty of pots and pans and dishes. Lakefront Amenities include the following: 50' dock, however water is shallow at end of dock, about 2' - 3' deep. Not ideal for power boats. Jet Ski's are prohibited by us. Some folks have them, but we don't like them and we ask that our guests refrain from bringing them on the lake. 1 rowboat, 3 kayaks, 1 canoe.

Our family of 5 could not have had a better time. You want a private rustic getaway - this is the place. Our only regret is that we didn't act quickly enough to book the week we would have wanted for 2012.

Long Lake Cabin

Review Submitted: October 3, 2010 Date of Stay: July 2010
Our family has been enjoying Long Lake Cabin since 2003. It is the kind of place that I wish we had discovered when our children were young, but fortunately and thanks to the Doyle family our grandchildren and children now look forward to this family vacation every year. There are so many good things about it--the charming and rustic 1920's cabin (original cabin on the north side of Long Lake), the relatively quiet lake with shallow dock area ideal for young children, the unusually private setting, and proximity to all of the attractions of the Sleeping Bear Dune National Lakeshore. Each year we've spotted a variety of wildlife--turkeys, deer, very large turtle, loons, even a cougar. It's a real treasure.

Owner's Response: Thanks Mary for the nice review. My two favorite wild life sitings are the loons and the eagles.

Peaceful get-away on the lake

Review Submitted: September 24, 2010 Date of Stay: September 2010
Our family, consisting of 9 adults and 4 children under the age of four, has stayed at the cabin for the past two years over the Labor Day week. The cabin is our family's peaceful get-away, and we enjoy every moment we are there. We love the location and and the beach is perfect for the little ones. We have been there for a very hot week and a fairly cool week and always have plenty to do. We love taking canoes/kayaks out, swimming, taking hikes, and long nights by the campfire. Between the two rooms and the loft, we had plenty of room for everyone to sleep and the other accomodations are all nice too. Thank you to the Doyle family for allowing us to enjoy such a wonderful vacation in your cabin on the lake.

Family Fun

Review Submitted: August 25, 2010 Date of Stay: August 2010
My family had a wonderful time at this cabin! The lake is beautiful and very accessible (we have young children) with a lovely beach area and shallow water. The cabin is stocked with all the outdoor gear you would like - a hammock, three kayaks and a row boat. We spent much of our time fishing and cruising around the lake in the kayaks. The cabin is in a fantastic area for day trips. We took trips to Sleeping Bear Dunes and went on a couple of hiking trips with the whole family. The cabin itself is very cozy and has all the comforts you would need and was extremely clean. Overall, I highly recommend.
