Recently, the San Juan islands were featured in Lonely Planet, Travel + Leisure and National Geographic naming the area one of the year's Best Destinations. There are many seasonal activities and special events in which to partake. Whale watching, kayaking, sailing, hiking, cycling, bird watching, paddle boating, golf, horseback riding are all popular. There are fairs and festivals, parades, and farmers markets, local theater and musical performances. Visit local artists' studios, galleries and shops. Something is sure to be happening during your visit. Moran State Park offers over 5200 acres of pristine forest with 30 miles of hiking and biking trails plus horseback trails, lakes and virgin forest. The view from Mount Constitution at 2409 feet, also accessible by car, is considered by many to be the most spectacular water vista in North America. Turtleback Mountain Preserve's 1500 acres offers wide open vistas, both forest and grasslands plus blankets of wildflowers in the spring. From the truly steep to the more manageable trails you can hike or horseback ride this incredible mountain. Harvest vegetables, fruit and herbs from our kitchen garden or clams and oysters from our private beach in season.
