|Minimum Stay||5 nights|
Everything you've heard about Tahiti is true. The air is soft and sweet. The breeze is warm. The waters are blue. The nights are filled with romance. Head to the beach where the sand caresses your toes and the water is always warm.
You can easily enjoy yourself in the comfort and privacy of your own island home. Forget crowded hotels and noisy resorts.
Relax. The surf beckons. The palms whisper, 'Unwind, layback and be happy.' Gentle breezes blow softly across your face. The fragrance of flowers lingers. Time loses all meaning. The waves sparkle. You don't have to do anything, but enjoy.
Fare Hamara is a large, affordable two bedroom villa located on Opunohu Bay on the island of Moorea. You are only a short hop via air or catamaran to Papeete, with its shopping and other island attractions on the neighboring main island of Tahiti.

Beautiful 8 sided cedar home located on the side of a mountain with everything you need and a great view. Fully equipped kitchen,BBQ, spacious 2 bedrooms,180 degree view from the deck of Obay and Sharks tooth. April was still in the rainy season...lots of rain. Great owners and caretaker.
Awesome is an over used description but I cannot think of a better word for this location. I've traveled the world and this view is unbeatable! Be sure and check out the jet ski tour directly across the bay "Moemoea Jet Ski" - The kitchen is completely stocked with the tools for cooking and dining in. On site grounds keeper perfectly friendly and helpful.
We spent 2 weeks at Fare Hamara during the "rainy season" but lucked out with fantastic weather (one full rain day and a few sprinkles the rest of our stay). The house is spacious and the views are lovely.
Jacques is the best part. He is so very helpful, he picked us up at the ferry terminal and took us grocery shopping! We shared some drinks on the deck to say thanks!
We walked to the beautiful, pristine beach almost everyday (we rented a car for the 2nd week of our stay only- go Avis)
The bathroom is huge and there are plenty of towel racks to dry swimsuits. Great showers!
Yes, there are geckos inside and out but they are after mozzies so we welcomed them! We finally figured out we needed repellent when we were outside in the mornings and evenings. The itch didn't last long like the ones in the Midwest. We also saw a few wasps and plantation bugs, but it is the tropics!
My friend and I hate air conditioning and loved the ceiling and portable fans. We were never too hot. Yes, the driveway is steep and a bit bumpy but go slow and steady and even the weakest rental car will make it up.
There are NO neighbors, other than Jacques and you will not hear him. The roosters weren't as bad as I've experienced in Central America but I still brought earplugs.
We loved Les Tipaniers for paddleboarding, Chez Fifi for crepes, Eva Perles for bling and Moorea Yacht Club for excellent food & drink!
I would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you Jacques, Mary and Bob.
The house was beautiful, nicely decorated, very well equipped with everything that one may need during the course of the visit, quiet (except for the roosters) and very spacious. It does not have air conditioning but the many fans and windows everywhere provide a nice cool breeze at night and the place was surprisingly pleasant during the day. The bathroom was amazing and a blast to spend time in (you'll know what I mean once you see it). The wrap-around deck was perfect for hanging out on in the early mornings and evenings. The views were spectacular (we even saw dolphins swimming in the bay below us). The property is very private and in a nice location up a hill (the path up to the house from the road is a little rough so take it easy with the rental car). But there is no traffic noise and no neighbours to get bothered by. The owners were very easy to deal with and quick to respond to e-mails and inquiries. The caretaker, Jacques, was very friendly, accommodating and helpful. He is basically a walking information guide and knows a lot about the island. If he can't provide you with valuable information (which I highly doubt), then the signed guest book in the house is filled with recommendations as to where to eat and where to go for excursions and such. Overall, the place is fantastic and we will definitely be staying here again on our next visit.
Myself, my mother, father and sister stayed at Fare Hamara for 5 days. We all had a great time. Fare Hamara is very relaxing with fantastic views. I can't wait to visit again!
The location is great with stunning views of the surrounding island and Oponohu Bay. The house is centrally located on the island (you can only get so far from anything considering it take roughly 90 minutes to drive around the whole island). If you drive 15 to 20 minutes in either direction you will hit the local villages, resorts, supply stores, and centers of activity. There is a public beach with good snorkeling and picnic areas.
The house is great as well with all the things you might need to be comfortable. BBQ, oven, stove, microwave, etc are all there for your convenience.
For activities and recommendations, just ask Jacques (the caretaker) or the guest book which has plenty of reviews and good suggestions for keeping busy.
If busy isn't your thing, pack plenty of reading materials and just hang out on the deck in the sun.
Cant go wrong with an extended stay at Fare Hamara.
Our recent stay at Fare Hamara was exactly what we were looking for in a vacation rental. It was a beautiful property, clean and centrally located on the island. The photos did indeed reflect the property's appearance and amenities. The owner as well as the caretaker answered our many questions and provided helpful advice about what to do and what to expect on our first trip to French Polynesia. We loved Albert's ATV tour, the Lagoonarium where you swim with black tip sharks, and though expensive, highly recommend the Polynesian show at the Tiki Village. Also, even though most of the tour companies will pick you up, rent a car to get around the island. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to go back sometime. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
