Experience the beauty and challenge of one of this Country’s oldest golf courses, steeped in over 100 years of rich history. Originally built in 1898, the course was redesigned by noted architect, John Van Kleek, who benefited from the consultation of World Champion Walter Hagen.
With the Adirondack Mountains and pristine Lake Placid as its backdrop, the artistically designed course offers novices and pros alike a rewarding day. Its trademark clover leaf designed greens and bunkers illustrate the meticulous attention to details the architect provided.
The Whiteface Club & Resort golf house and pro shop offer a wide variety of quality golfing products. Join us on the covered deck overlooking the putting green and first hole for a casual lunch or beverage, or one of a variety of golf tournaments.

In our opinion, Lake Placid is HEAVEN ON EARTH. It offers a 4 season location with breathtaking beauty. Enjoy all of the Olympic venues plus tobogganing, sledding, rock climbing, photography, hiking, swimming, fishing, tubing, golfing, tennis. The list goes on and on.
We are 5 minutes to town and restaurants. 25 minutes to Whiteface Mountain. The views of Whiteface Mountain and the High Peaks are incredible. No matter what the weather or season...it doesn't get any better or more serene a setting and location. Play games at the game table, relax with friends and family in front of the fireplaces, enjoy the screened porch facing the lake...sit on the dock with your favorite book.....The kitchen is fully equipped with all the amenities you will need. There is an extra bar area to set up a buffet for your guests...The sunroom (4 season) is a place to spend time alone with lots of light.
Another wonderful experience at Camp Bearberry. All the amenities of home plus scenic Lake Placid as our backdrop. The porch was the family focal point and everyone commented on the cosiness of the beds. For a few of us, this was our second enjoyable trip. Thanks again, Camp Bearberry.
We went to Camp Bearberry this past New Years with 3 families. We had 8 teenagers (17-18 yrs. old) and 4 parents. The house had plenty of room for all of us. Everyone was amazed with the home. It has all the amenities you could want. Kitchen is very well stocked with every type of pot, pan or tool you could need. Each of the bedrooms is tastefully decorated with Adirondack style furnishing. The highlight of the décor are the many incredible landscape paintings adoring the walls of the camp, which were painted by the homeowner, Kathie. Each of the bedrooms its own unique style. Think of Camp Bearberry as a beautiful Inn, where you rent out every room in the Inn. The two working fireplaces were amazing. We lit them every night for dinner and while relaxing in the family room. We didn't even bother going out for dinner, once a back in the camp we couldn't imagine a better place to be. There’s plenty of firewood and a big cart to transport the wood into the house. This camp has nothing lacking from it. Additionally, Kathie is accommodating and easy to work with. I would highly recommend this property to any family or group looking for a great Adirondack vacation. Skiing at Whiteface was good and coming back home to camp Bearberry was the topping on the cake. We all can't wait to go back again!
We stayed at Camp Bearberry early November 2014. Camp Bearberry is on a picturesque part of Lake Placid looking at the sun rise across the lake and Whiteface Mountain. Camp Bearberry is decorated in true Adirondack style with all the amenities one could wish for. The living room and it's roaring fire is a perfect setting to sip wine, eat cheese and take in the beautiful relaxing setting. Can't wait to return. We highly recommend a stay at Camp Bearberry.
My friends and I have just completed our 5th season at Camp Bearberry, The camp
location and its amenities are superior. We are forever fans, Thank you again Kathie for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home.
My husband and I and my cousin and his wife added Camp Bearberry recently planned a trip to Cooperstown and decided to add some time in the mountains of New York to our itinerary. What a great decision! Camp Bearberry was the perfect spot to kick back for a few days and enjoy the view of the lake, playing checkers by the roaring fire, and watching the leaves turn splendid colors. We had a day of rainy, cold weather, and what could have been more perfect than watching the fog slip across the lake and the sun rise the next morning explains the words "Mirror Lake." The house is great, especially if you like traditional Adirondack furnishings. The owners obviously love the house, and it is filled with special collections and original art. The house from the lakefront (shown in the photo) is charming, and well kept. It is not hard to imagine "campers" running up and down the stairs and playing on the lawn that stretches down to the water. The kitchen worked well for us, the dining room is one of my favorite rooms (BEYOND charming!), and in spite of the cold outside the house was very comfortable. Location is extremely convenient to pop in and out of Lake Placid, which is FULL of great restaurants and cute shops. There are other houses around the property (it isn't set off all by itself) but the Camp has plenty of "private space." The drive up to Whiteface Mountain was gorgeous with the Fall leaves. The owner was particularly helpful in recommending places to eat and things to do (we loved lunch at The Cottage and dinner at the nearby Pub at Lake Placid Lodge). We loved seeing the rink where "Miracle on Ice" occurred! We would love to go back in the summer when we really enjoy the lake itself, perhaps starting in Montreal and driving down; however, flying out of Albany was a breeze, and the drive from Lake Placid down was just over 2 hours and a great foliage tour. Many thanks to Kathie S for all of her assistance! Camp Bearberry will always be special for all of us!
My family rented Camp Bearberry for a week before and during our daughter's wedding at the Whiteface Club and Resort. The house, its location and accommodations could not have been more perfect for the occasion. The house is located on the shore of Lake Placid. We loved swimming off the dock; the wedding party photos on the lawn were gorgeous; the groomsmen walked from the house to the wedding garden; and the parents walked home after the wedding at the Whiteface Club. The house provides ample space for group gatherings in the living room, dining room, and lovely screened porch, and a nicely-appointed bathroom for every bedroom (critical for a wedding!). The house is beautifully furnished with interesting Adirondack antiques, and is well-furnished for cooking and entertaining. Owners Kathie and Gary Smith were wonderfully welcoming, and so helpful. We totally loved our stay at Camp Bearberry!
The Adirondack National Park is the largest protected wilderness area in the contiguous Unites States. ‘Forever wild’ certainly describes this most treasured piece of unspoiled beauty. Due to its unique make up of both publicly and privately owned land, there are over 100 small towns and villages tucked in among the 6 million acre preserve. The great Adirondack Park offers amazing opportunity for all sorts of world class outdoor activities - golfing, skiing, birding, hiking, cycling, fishing; the list is nearly endless. The village of Lake Placid is set right in the middle of this outdoor paradise, and combines a storied Olympic past, wonderful shopping, museums, history, dining and the arts with sports activities galore.
