I was nervous to pay 100% of the rent up front, months in advance, plus a deposit. While I felt reasonably comfortable with the situation, I wouldn't be certain it was legit until I showed up.
When we arrived at the gift shop, I showed someone my reservation. I didn't really get any sort of communication or welcome - they just took the paperwork and went behind the counter. He appeared to be looking at the paperwork, with no further communication for what seemed like at least 30 seconds. I was a bit nervous at this moment that the whole thing was a scam. No welcome, and very little communication! Fortunately the store employee finally found my name in the resevations and affirmed that I had a room reserved.
Once we got to our room we were pleased. It was relatively spacious. We got the 1st floor apartment, which I'm not sure aligns with the photos on the ad, but they are all very similar. Some folks complain about the comfort of the futon (for sleeping), but there was a supplemental foam pad in the closet, which was nice. The location and the apartment itself were both very good. On the negative side, it can be a somewhat noisy location, depending on what's going on outside during the evening. Bring earplugs if this is a concern. Additionally, the A/C is right next to the futon, so if you have someone sleeping on that, and also folks in the bed, the person on the futon may not want the A/C blasting on their head...therefore, the whole apartment got pretty hot for us. These aren't deal killers, but things to be aware of.
When checking out, I wanted to do a walk-through with someone from the store. The person I spoke with seemed to not speak very fluent English, so once again, communication was an issue with the property management. I asked them on 3 occasions if someone could do a walkthrough with us, but I couldn't understand the response. I ultimately deciphered that I should give the keys to her and the walkthrough would not occur, which I did not care for. I would've preferred to leave knowing I would get the full deposit back. I did fortunately get the deposit back after a week or so. The communication via email was always good, but the face to face communication was lackluster.
Would I stay here again, or recommend it to others? Yes. The location and value are great. However, there were some issues with communication, noise (outside of anyone's control) and the A/C unit to be aware of.
