Just to start with, only 4 miles away (a great bike ride), Glen Arbor is a quaint, active small village nestled among tall deep green pines and fresh air breezes while situated amid the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes National Lakeshore Park on three incredibly beautiful bodies of water: Lake Michigan with capturing awesome views of the Manitou Islands and Pyramid Point, the exceptionally scenic Glen Lakes ranked among the most beautiful lakes in the world, and the meandering Crystal River with sparkling clear flowing waters which truly live up to the river's name, a must canoe/kayak trip. In the Village there are restaurants, galleries, design studios, boutiques, grocery stores, shopping, canoe-kayak liveries, unique clothing stores and more. A village post office, a gas station and the local 'watering hole', too. All of Leelanau County is breathtaking and boast acres and acres of Sleeping Bear Dunes spanning from the town of Empire all the way North to the town of Northport. The shopping, wineries, restaurants, sightseeing, hiking, golfing, biking, tennis, water skiing, sailing, fishing, Lake Michigan beaches, dune climbs, galleries, sunset concerts,Fall Colors, Downhill or cross country skiing, snowmobiling, and close to anything you'd be up for are endless and are the best anywhere. One of the things that is remarkable in this day and age is that the area has not been inhabited by corporate chains such as McDonands, Starbucks, Holiday Inn, etc. A true Up-North local grown paradise.
