West Tisbury is the ideal Vineyard town, and my lovely and charming year round home is your ideal location in West Tisbury. The house sits on 1.8 secluded wooded acres. It is located at the end of a well maintained dirt road, thus is quiet and private. My house has lots of light, plants, and a modern, magical feeling. An unusual feature of this house is the suspended hallway, and a separate, private entrance into a wide hallway with a bedroom & half bath. It is located just 1/2 mile from a Land Bank property called Sepiessa where there is pond and beach access! My property is approx. 1 mile from the West Tisbury town center where there is Alley's General Store, and the public library. You will have access to our beautiful town beach at Lamberts Cove. This house is ideal for 2 couples or a family with 2 children.
Lisa's Fitness Studio!: A most unusual detail of this beautiful property is the homeowners' fitness studio, which is a small separate building on the property where fitness classes are held on Mon., Wed., and Fri. mornings for 1.25 hrs. throughout the summer. The homeowner is a nationally certified instructor and personal trainer and has been teaching for over 25 years. The class is offered free to any adult renting the house!
It should be noted that the Homeowner will most likely be staying in her Studio while the renters are in the house. This does not affect the rental in any way, and can actually be a plus in case you have questions or problems of any kind.
This property is surrounded by woods, and is the last house on Manters Path. For just under 2 acres you won't find a more secluded spot! Just a reminder; The Martha's Vineyard Land Bank Property called Sepiessa is just a quarter mile down the road and offers beach access, solitude, and spectacular views! I have lived on the Vineyard since 1982, so I obviously love the place! I have 2 children I have raised here, both now college graduates (!), and live out in the 'real world'. I am renting my house for extra income in order to be able to stay on this beautiful Island.
When my former husband and I were looking to build back in the 80's, there were many properties to choose from. We picked West Tisbury and this property for several reasons; the zoning allows for privacy, the location is central on the Island, there are several outstanding large Pines surrounding the house, and no poison ivy!! It felt magical then and still feels that way now...
Probably the most unique benefit is the fact we designed and built this beautiful home ourselves. It is truly unique. Its passive solar, thanks to the glass greenhouse on the south side, and we burmed the earth on the North side (see first photo) for better insulation in the winter.
I grow flowers and vegetables, which you are welcome to pick/eat during your stay!
There are endless things to do on Martha's Vineyard in summer! While staying on my property, you are centrally located (literally) to about everything; shopping, beaches, bicycle paths, galleries, but most importantly, beautiful woods, birds, and the sound of the surf which you can hear from my backyard.
Other Activities: I live here year round. Some of my favorite things to do:
walk/bike/run in the nearby land bank property just down the road called Sepiessa.(you can launch a Kayak or small boat here & paddle to the barrier beach!!) I enjoy a leisurely walk or bike ride to our Village Center, a mile away. There you have a general store, library, and very interesting gallery which is both outdoors and indoors. There is horseback riding nearby, and Lambert's Cove beach is about 4 miles from my property.
