Local Amenities-Professional Sports:
We have THE location. Two Cactus League spring training facilities are within a few minutes walk. More are are only a 15 or 20 minute drive. Westgate Center, 20 minutes away, includes Phoenix University Stadium, home of the Arizona Cardinals, and Jobing.com Arena, home of the Phoenix Coyotes hockey team, and a complement of fine shops and restaurants. Phoenix International Raceway (NASCAR) is about 30 minutes south. Downtown Phoenix is also 30 minutes away.
Nearby Lake Pleasant is stocked for fishing. There is a library complex just south near the civic center. Wickenburg is a quaint town in the hills northeast of your location, with a superb western art museum. Heading west on Bell Road is Sun City Parkway and a scenic drive around the White Tank Mountains and the new Festival Retirement Community by Del Webb.
Golf Facilities and other activities:
Within minutes are no less than five public golf courses in Sun City West, and Sun City Grand. If you like hiking you will enjoy the labyrinth of trails of the White Tank Mountain Regional Park about 20 minutes away, with spectacular desert views and a liberal sprinkling of ancient Indian hieroglyphics scratched into the rocks along the paths. On the way back, stop by Wildlife World Zoo and visit the exotic animals.
Dining facilities :
Your biggest problem with restaurants and eateries is just sorting through them all. From casual to formal is available, and there are way to many to list here. Just think 'Bell Road', starting with McDonalds, and running up the scale from there. For a truly outstanding dining experience, we highly recommend The Wigwam Resort, located in Litchfield Park, about 30 minutes south. The Wigwam refers to itself as 'Authentic Arizona', and so it is. Long established in the West Valley, it features several fine restaurants, as well as two bars. The Wigwam is the favorite of many celebrities who come to Phoenix, who use it as a hideaway after performances.
By the way, Starbucks is just down the street from the house--if you're interested.
