Ocean Drive, a section of North Myrtle Beach:
Casual, family beach. Part of the Grand Strand, where the beach is wide with beautiful white sand and the water is relatively shallow even in low tide. Beautiful, flowing sand dunes with waving natural sea grass and environmental protection. Great surfing section designated. Local ordinances specify times for dogs on the beach, beach bikes, and more. Amusement park off Main Street on the beach is open Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Shaggin' at O.D.:
Shag clubs are our specialty. Learn to shag - free group lessons are available one night each week at some of the local clubs. Or just come and enjoy the great music. Twice annually week-long shag festivals are scheduled. 2009: April 17 - 26 is Spring Safari, Sept 11 - 20 is Fall Migration. At additional times, shorter shag events happen. Keep in touch for more information. Other festivals and music galas are held periodically as well.
