We love Austin and this house!

We were exhausted from the holidays with family in SanFran. We wanted to get away but not too away. This was the perfect adventure for my husband and I and we are trying to figure out more dates for this very house. We have never stayed in anything like it in our lives. We read about the architects before coming so we had a clue about their aesthetic but we were just in awe of the space when we arrived. It took us an entire day to leave the roof and porches. Once we did, we borrowed the bikes, crossed the street to the City's main hike and bike trail and we were in the middle of downtown everything in 10 minutes. Luckily, they had bike lights because we didn't get back until dark. The trail is a little dark at night so not for everyone but we just found it more exciting. After a restful sleep in the master which has very effective light-blocking drapes, we had a wonderful breakfast in the light-filled kitchen. The house was immaculately clean. Later that morning, we walked the kayaks to the lake (each kayak has a set of wheels that just slide into the scupper holes). It is more like a 5-minute walk to the water because there is a fence at the lake entrance right across the street from the house, but it wasn't bad at all with the wheels. I think the only thing that we could think of that might surprise some people was that you could tell the neighborhood was evolving like our the Mission district did years ago from a working class neighborhood to a more desire central city neighborhood. Anyway, the experience was wonderful, the house was divine, and we probably spent more time in it than in the City so we have to come back! We highly recommend it.
