Stone Walled and Gated Lake House on Metcalf Bay. Lake Drive is one of the best streets in the city of Big Bear Lake. Enjoy panoramic lake views from every room in the house. The living room has walls of glass and an old stone fireplace with plenty of couches and easy chairs to relax. The kitchen is well equipped for the gourmet cooks in the family and has butcher block counter tops and a large island for preparation. There are stainless appliances including gas cook top, wall oven, microwave and dishwasher. There are two dining tables to accommodate a large group for meals.

Downstairs there is a recreation room that opens onto a lakefront terrace with a pool table, convertible bed/sofa, TV, bathroom and shower and a kitchen with range/oven/microwave.

Relax on the huge wrap-around front porch with commanding views of Big Bear Lake.

There are lounge chairs, love seats and a dining table on the porch. In back, off the kitchen, there is another patio with lounges, dining table and stainless barbecue grill.

All four bedrooms have views of the lake! We arrived on a Friday with six people and found the house to be impeccably clean and yet very homey and private. It was very spacious and the views were surreal. A beautiful view over the lake from almost every room. Very close to town. The bar-b- Que. was filled with propane and the kitchen had every utensil necessary for any kind if entertaining. A beautiful stone fireplace which the owner supplied lots of wood. And loved the ambiance and the beautiful scenic walks from the house thru the serene neighborhood.we will definitely be coming back repeatedly. Their are no drawbacks with this property. I would highly recommend this property, as it is well worth the price. And the owner is very obliging and easy to work with in any of the needs you might have. Don,t pass this property up. You'll love it!
Oh and if you like going to antique shops there are very close by to explore. Have the experience of a lovely home, along the lake front and enjoy the views and natures critters like squirrels, birds, deer, and have your privacy too! Enjoy! We did!

Awesome Lake House - Gorgeous Views!!!

I can not begin to tell you how pleased we were with our first time staying in Big Bear Lake and to have been able to stay in the most charming home, with lake and mountain views to die for, made our trip fantastic! First of all, the owners are amazing as they were incredibly accommodating. The beds are sooooo comfortable with high thread count linens. There are so many places inside and outside of the home to enjoy the full experience of a mountain resort. We spent most of our time on the deck off the kitchen gazing into the sunsets over the lake with the gentle breezes blowing and of course a great glass of wine! All the conveniences of home ~ fully stocked kitchen, great showers and a television in every room ~ WE WILL DEFINITELY BE COMING BACK!!

Not ready for rental

We rented this property for a week long family vacation in July. The property has a great location and a nice balcony overlooking the lake. Unfortunately there were significant issues with the house that eventually caused us to leave a day early.

1. We paid a cleaning fee to the owner but had to spend time cleaning the house when we arrived. Floors and mirrors were not cleaned and the house had cobwebs in reachable and noticeable areas. When we expressed concern about this to the owner, he simply said that it was hard to keep up with the cobwebs in the mountains. We lived in Lake Arrowhead have rented in Big Bear on a few occasions before. Cobwebs in reachable areas should have been cleaned. The owner refunded our security deposit in full but when we made the request he did not refund our cleaning fee.

2. Extra key and notebook for the house were not where we were told and we had to hunt it down. Notebook described the house as 60 years old and "cranky". Per the notebook, jacuzzi was broken and fireplaces required a few steps to avoid having smoke in the house. We chose to not use the fireplace.

3. Hot water for showers was intermittent and some of our family had to deal with cold or short showers through the week.

4. The website offers kayaks for use and barbecues. The kayaks were no where to be found and the propane tank for the barbecue was too tight to open. Appears it had not been used in a while.

5. Garbage disposal and dishwasher did not work when we arrived. We discussed with owner and repairs were done during the week.

5. Internet and tv in one location at the house went down during the week. We worked around the issue.

6. The owner always took our calls but the issues were so extensive we finally stopped calling him.

The house has potential as a nice rental but has been neglected. We spent alot of money to rent this house for the week. We left one day before the end of our rental period and would not recommend this house for rental. We definitely won't rent it again.
Owner's Response: As the owner of this great Lakehouse, I'd like to repond.
I have been renting out the house for 4 years and never had anyone express disappointment.
1. The house was definitely cleaned before check in.
Cob webs are swifted down constantly. Sometimes they appear the very next day. This is not a dirty house. The floors,furniture,baths,linens are well kept.
2.The extra key and notebok were in the kitchen hutch. Hardly major "hunt" to find.
We NEVER advertise a jacuzzi. It is not offered with the rental for liability purposes.
The fireplace doen't require several steps to use. I just asked that the glass doors remain closed. Not too hard.
3.We really never have problems with the hot water. When I went to inspect the heater I found someone had turned down the tank to #2 setting.
4.We have 2 stainless steel DCS grills. 1 on patio and 1 on dock. They both work great. When I inspected the tank ,I found it in the "ON" position. Who ever was trying to turn it on with tools didn't even realize it was allready ON. They were attenpting to crank it farther ON. All I did was turn the dial and lite it. The BBQ is not neglected.
The website offers "1" Kayak for use. Not sure why they couldn't find that. It was in the garage in plain site.
5. The gargage disposal and dishwasher were working when they arrived. They called me the 2nd day to report that they were suddenly not operating. They said they worked when they first got there. I sent a repairman within the hour to look at electrical possible problem. It turned out to be a loose conection which can happen??
The internet and cable are provided by Charter Cable. Sometimes you need to reset a box? At any rate,I'm glad they were able to work around the cable not working in one room for a bit. There are 6 TV'S in the house.

I was surprized to read that they had numerous other "problems" and quit calling me. What other problems? If they left early because the above mentioned "non problems", it must have been for their own reasons.

This house is not negelcted! It is loved!
