Great Place!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here for one week and thoroughly enjoyed the apartment. Very clean and tastefully decorated. Robin (the owner) was very helpful in giving us tips to help us navigate Staten Island. We had previously stayed at another apartment late last year so were informed about the wonderful Staten Island Ferry. The last time we were here we needed to drive 25 minutes to the ferry. This apartment is close enough that we walked to the ferry each morning and at night we took the bus which dropped us off right in front of the apartment. There is a $Million$ view from the living room window towards Manhattan. You can even see Lady Liberty! My dream is to come back some day and rent out the entire home for a full month so we can share the experience with our family and friends. If you are traveling to New York, do yourself a favor and stay at this wonderful vacation rental. I'm sure you will be as pleased with your decision as we were.

Feels like home

  • 5 of 5
My mother and I stayed for a week in November. I was there to run the NY marathon. After a long day of flights and travel, it was such a pleasure to arrive at this lovely apartment. It's very comfortable and clean with a delightful feel. It was great for the marathon because I was already on Staten Island and it was an easy cab ride over to the start line. The walk to the Staten Island ferry is delightful and the view of the river and the city is beautiful. My mother really enjoyed relaxing in the evenings and watching the boats. The small kitchen is perfect for putting together an easy meal. I loved the fluffy towels. It's such a pleasure to find towels and linens of good quality when renting a place. There is a small grocery nearby which was really convenient. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and my mother appreciated being able to get out of the hustle and bustle of Manhattan after we were done sightseeing each day.

Wonderful Cottage Feel!!

  • 5 of 5
I stayed in Robin's Nest for a week and a day. I wished I could have stayed longer. Once you enter the space, you feel welcome and at home. The owner has taken much care in decorating the apartment. I would even say it's immaculately appointed. Robin was also quite warm and helpful with me getting a taxi to the airport.
I also would love to come back to stay in the much larger portion of the house, it's amazing!
See you again soon Robin.

Quiet upstairs appartment with spectacular view

  • 5 of 5
Excellent place for 2 (as couple or friends with a room each) but would work well with up to 4 people staying. Everything worked fine, the shower and towels are really good. We barely heard our neighbors and slept very well in both the bedroom and on foldout couch. The twinkling Manhatten skyline is visible from your pillow if you choose to sleep on the couch - I really enjoyed that! In the skylit kitchenette: no microwave, but fridge, toaster oven and everything else you need for cooking and eating simple meals, with a dishwasher for easy clean-up. There is enough closet space, so you don't have to trip over your bags at night. One closet locks with removable key for your valuables, if you need that peace of mind, but the appartment is private and the neighborhood is very safe. Free street parking, easiest to find in the street behind the house if you come with a car, or decide to rent one for a day or two.

10-15 minute downhill walk to the ferry - you might consider taking a taxi ($6-8) back late at night. Not for safety reasons, but because it's a little steep going uphill when you're tired from sightseeing all day. The ferry runs 24 hrs - for free - so going to a show or other night entertainment in Manhattan and getting home is no problem. The Staten Island ferry ride is surely one of the best in the world and a main reason why we chose this location. People-watching, the skyline and Miss Liberty never get boring, no matter what time of day or year.

But you should also consider taking in Staten Island's own historical sights and suburban feel! There are public busses. There is also a substantial mall for serious shopping, an excellent alternative to carrying bags around in Manhattan all day.

Your host is extremely considerate and helpful with suggestions and fix-its. She is just the icing on a truly memorable location and a charmingly furnished appartment with that personal touch - a real home away from home.

excellent way to see New York City

  • 4 of 5
This tidy, nice appartment is fit for two or tree people. For one week sightseeing in New York, especially Manhattan this appartment is a good startingpoint. Crossing the Hudson with the Staten Island Ferry is part of this experience: every day another view on the Manhattan skyline, the Statue of Liberty et cetera.
The appartment has a nice interior so once you arrive you feel at home immediately. The owner is very friendly and helpful.
Especially when you have a long day programme this appartment makes you relax and sleep well. Mind the partying neighbours in the weekend, so bring your earplugs. Still the location of the appartment is worth it.

Wonderful Stay...

  • 5 of 5
OUr family was pleasantly suprised this property was all and more than it presented itself to be. We stayed for a week, four total in our party. We were so happy with everything. Neat, clean, warm and inviting. It always felt so good to come home after running around all day in NYC. We got around on foot, the ferry and the subway and had a fantastic time. We went to a Yankees game in the Bronx, went to see Wicked at the Gershwin, went to the museums, shopping, Little Italy and China town! The property was great and we will be back!! Thank you for everything!!

Located on the North Shore of the borough of Staten Island and within a few short blocks to all public transportation. Safe, yet very convenient to Lower Manhattan by the free 30 minute ferry that runs every day all day and night. Going to the ferry it is a short walk downhill and on the way back there is a Metro-card transfer bus, #42 that stops right in front of the house. The house is landmarked and is located in a Historic district community with many fine old homes, public buildings and churches. The back garden has a wonderful view of the Hudson Harbor with the Brooklyn Bridge, the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building all in sight. Within the village of St. George the neighborhood is quaint and quiet with small markets, pharmacies and liquor stores nearby.
