Looking to get away from the crowds? Come to Sandpiper Beach, a secluded 27-unit oceanfront complex situated on 13 acres on beautiful Sanibel Island. Located on a dead-end street and adjacent to a wildlife preserve, Sandpiper Beach is the best-kept secret on the island! Although the property is directly on the Gulf of Mexico, the buildings are set back far enough from the beach to offer quiet and privacy. The pool is heated to a comfortable 85 degrees and offers a peaceful setting to relax and enjoy the tropical sun. The complex includes tennis and shuffleboard courts, barbeque grills and covered parking. Wireless internet access is available throughout the complex.

Stay in our beachfront vacation home and experience all that Sanibel Island has to offer! Our unit (#405) sleeps six (K/TT/SS) and includes 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a well-appointed kitchen and dining area, and a spacious living area with vaulted ceilings. Free local telephone service is provided. The living area includes a 32-inch TV, stereo and CD/DVD/VCR. Cable TV with DVD is available in each bedroom. Enjoy beautiful sunrise views from the covered lanai overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.

Subtropical winter weather and cool ocean breezes in the summer make Sanibel Island a popular year-round vacation destination. Approximately one third of the island is undeveloped. There are no traffic lights or high-rise buildings to spoil the island's charm. The island is home to the J.N 'Ding' Darling National Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is part of the largest undeveloped mangrove ecosystem in the United States and is world famous for its spectacular migratory bird populations. Sanibel is also famous for its pristine white sand beaches, some of the finest shelling beaches in the world. Golf, tennis, boating excursions, a wide variety of water sports and excellent fishing are readily available. The island is crisscrossed by 22 miles of paved bicycle trails, which you can explore using the 4 bicycles included in the unit for the exclusive use of our guests.

Our unit is serviced by a rental management firm that will be available to attend to any needs you may have during your stay. The unit is generally rented weekly, from Saturday through Saturday. Weekly rates vary by season and range from approximately $1300 - $2800 including taxes and fees. Special discounts are available for guests booking through Craigslist. Additional discounts are available for multi-week rentals. Rentals of 5-7 days may be considered based on availability.

About Chris Carillo

Hi! We are Dom and Chris Carillo. We live in Upstate New York, just outside the Adirondack Park. For most of the year, we enjoy the many outdoor activities this area has to offer, including hiking, biking and kayaking. We have 2 children. Mike is 22 and is in the U.S. Marine Corp. Jenn is 19, loves music, physics, and astronomy, and is studying to become a registered nurse.

Why Chris Carillo chose Sanibel Island

Winters are very long in Upstate New York, so we began looking for a warm location in which to spend some time during the winter. We were not attracted to busy places with lots of nightlife - we were looking for a quiet place with lots of natural beauty. We took a vacation one winter to Sanibel and we were hooked! When we are in Sanibel, we do lots of biking. We generally set aside one day for a bike trip to the beach at the end of Captiva Island. Sometimes we'll kayak on the Great Caloosa Blueway. We enjoy the serenity, the amazing birds, and the beautiful weather.

What makes this condo unique

We chose to purchase a unit at Sandpiper Beach because we were impressed with the beauty and the seclusion. We are right on the gulf, yet buffered from the beach by the beautiful grounds. With only 26 other units in the complex, we often have the pool all to ourselves. We enjoy the atmosphere so much that we often prefer to eat at home rather than go out to a restaurant. Breakfast on the lanai with the sun coming up is particularly breathtaking. And the pool is ALWAYS WARM!!!

Unit 405 Great

The Sandpiper Beach complex is small, private, secluded, off the main roads and immaculately landscaped and kept. The heated pool is fabulous. We stayed in unit 405 ( building 4, top floor, middle) for 2 weeks and it was perfect, with a wonderful view of the gulf. The unit has a nice bright kitchen equipped with all one could ask for- (a coffee maker, AND a Keurig machine were available) and the unit is fresh and clean. The decor and furniture, including wonderful master bed, are very comfortable. Plus the place is adorably decorated. The bathrooms, as in most of these units ( built 20 yrs ago) are small, nor are they updated but perfectly fine. I've stayed in vacation rentals in the past that are dank, dark, and crummy- that was not the case here. The owner offers 4 bikes in great condition, helmets, beach chairs, umbrellas and sand toys- all in tiptop condition. The owners were very responsive to emails, questions ,and had helpful suggestions. The only note the complex is for us seniors: the complex doesn't have an elevator- May be an issue for some.

Summer Dream

My girls group and I had a wonderful stay at the Sandpiper. Condo was just as pictured, very clean, and with plenty of extras down in the storage area for the beach (umbrellas, chairs, the necessary-for-all-ages sand pails for shelling). Unit comes with four bikes, which is an added bonus, as it saves the hassle of arranging a rental and makes it easy to visit all over the island. Close to pool and a wonderful, and in the off season virtually empty, Gulf of Mexico beach. Owners were very patient with questions and advice. We loved eating at the Island Cow and Doc Ford's. Visit Tarpon Bay for kayaking and Captiva Marina for cruises. if you can get a charter out to Cayo Coasta, it's definitely worth the trip to a beautifully pristine, natural beach, Can't wait to come back!!
