Your Location:
You are actually located on an island - Little Hickory Island -usually called Bonita Beach. The beach is DIRECTLY across the street in front of you and the bay is directly across the street behind you. The easiest way to cross to the beach is the crosswalk 5 houses to the south. Starfish House is located in a neighborhood of single family homes, some of them quite spectacular, I must say. While residential, you are still just a short walk north to a deli, waterfront dining, and canoe, kayak and pontoon boat rentals. Walk the beach or sidewalk to the south and find 'Doc's' Restaurant for a sunset drink on the beach or rent jet skis, parasail, sail or paddle boat. Drive a mile north and find the county 'doggie beach' where your pet can frolic in the surf or drive a mile south to county 'Barefoot Beach' nature preserve with boardwalk and education center.
Nearby:
You are just minutes from many golf courses, mini-golf, Wonder Gardens Nature Zoo and Dog Track. A few minutes more and you're at dine in movie theatres, Fun and Sun Water Park (open on weekends in the winter)and Naples' 5th Ave for shopping and European style dining. And a little further is a must see - Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary- where walking the boardwalk gets you up close and personal with the Florida Everglades.
Transportation:
You are located on a Trolley route so you can leave the car parked and take the trolley north to Ft. Myers Beach restaurants and activities or south to the local grocery store and K-Mart plaza. Or bike to the south end of Bonita Beach and visit Collier County's Barefoot Beach Park with concessions, boardwalk, and nature center. Too Fun!
