2 families (3 adults + 4 kids) + Pine River Retreat = A FANTASTIC WEEKEND!!!

We just spent the weekend at Pine River Retreat and had an absolutely fantastic time! This is my 5th stay at a VRBO property and overall (location, amenities, etc) it's been the best. The pictures of the cabin itself don't really capture what it feels like to walk in the door and immediately feel all your work-week troubles drift away. Kathy has decorated down to the littlest detail...fish soap holders to hanging antique ice skates. The furniture if cozy, comfortable and had it not been over 90 degrees when we visited we would have had the fireplace roaring! There were games for us to play every night after dinner and the stereo is connected outside so that was a treat for us to enjoy as well while sitting on the porch. The kitchen is welcoming with lots of everything you could think of or need to cook a meal for 4 hungry teenagers (and us parents). The dining room seated all 7 of us at once so we could have family mealtimes which were fabulous! The bedrooms were roomy and were perfectly in tune with our needs (the bed in the bunk-room is a king) and the beds themselves were reported by everyone to be very comfortable. The new master suite is gorgeous and very roomy. The fireplace insert was enjoyed every night; but because it was so hot, we had the ceiling fan on at night and it was a bit intimidating as it is a bit too low...if you are tall you'll need to be careful!! It was wonderful having the float tubes available, however, not all of them held air and should probably be replaced. We very much enjoyed the hot tub though having a bug zapper back there as well as the one on the front porch/deck would be VERY welcome!
Lake Wenatchee is less than 5 minutes away and we spent a LOT of time there - it's gorgeous and they have a roped off swim area. It's a for-fee state park and the cost is $10/day or $30/anual. If you're just wanting to float the river, there are pull-off sites along the road to the cabin from HWY 2 that are free and very fun. If you plan to drive in to Leavenworth, I suggest taking the scenic route through Plain..the scenery is beautiful!!
We have all decided that we want to make this an annual vacation spot because it was just so wonderful - Kathy had great communication prior to our arrival and everything went smoothly during our stay! We just wanted to say thank you and we will definitely be back!!! If you are looking for a wonderful, relaxing, quiet place to enjoy the outdoors...this is definitely where you should be!
