The Mountain King Cabin is an amazing place to call home during your visit to Yellowstone Park. Located in the heart of Gardiner, on the banks of the Yellowstone River, it is just minutes from the north entrance to the park. The house faces south looking into the park highlighting stunning views of 11,000 foot Electric Peak. You can literally look out the windows, or off the deck and see: elk, antelope, deer, and occasionally bears and wolves roaming the hillsides of Yellowstone.
This rustic Montana log cabin is an inviting, airy open space it's is great for groups 6-8 with a fun loft for the kids! The Mountain King has private river access shared with the raft company for you fishing buffs. Walk down the path and have your line in the water in minutes. This stretch of the Yellowstone is a local secret because there are very few ways to access it. This section is not fished by commercial drift boats, the fishing is exceptional.
Stay in this beautiful cabin, AND spend a couple days rafting, horseback riding, and viewing wild life inside Yellowstone. It's easy and all in one place!
Thank you for sharing our cozy space and supporting our family! You help make our dream to raise two little munchkins possible!
Liza faerber purchased this cabin in 2007
Airy and sunlight filled, this wood interior cabin is welcoming immediately! Dramatic scenic views off of the deck yet nestled in town for the perfect hum of a Yellowstone summer.
We had a fantastic tie! We rafter, rode horses, hiked, swam, animal watched and had many bbq's - thanks for the cabin it's beautiful
ps we saw a bear!
Unfortunately, I am unable to give an excellent rating. There were too many hassles during our stay. Good things: cabin is decorated nicely inside, plenty of room for my family (5 of us), enough towels, most comfortable beds on our vacation of 2 weeks :), very close to Yellowstone. Here are the problems: very trashy, sketchy alley to get to the cabin with neighbors posting private property signs all over and one sign saying "we don't call 911" with a picture of a gun, no official parking space which leads to arguments with other tenants and neighbors (the alley is too small to turn around so you either reverse in or out 75 feet), dirty washcloth hanging from showerhead when we arrived, few utensils in kitchen (about 5 forks), 1.5 rolls of toilet paper for 5 people staying 5 nights, Flying Pig Adventure Company next door (almost touching) starts zip-lining their 6 rafts down the slope to the river about 7:45 each morning all to their blaring music and yelling (they were nice but this was not relaxing on my vacation), WiFi didn't work well (if advertised it should work), and worst thing...NO KEYS! We were not given keys to the cabin the whole time! I TRIED CALLING THE OWNER 5 TIMES OVER THE FIRST TWO DAYS with no response to my messages. Finally the owner's mailbox was full! She eventually called back (on our last day) but it was too late by that time. We packed up our electronics and few other valuables and took it with us during the day to yellowstone. Hassle.
This was a lovely cabin, with great access to Yellowstone. Gardiner was riddled with charm, great shops, and unexpectedly incredible restaurants considering the size of the town, as well as walking distance to a grocery market. The view off the deck overlooking the Yellowstone River and town was incredible. Yes, you are in close quarters to neighbors and the rafting shop next door, but the convenience to town and the park is so nice. The cabin offers everything you need and is in excellent condition, fairly new and well maintained, and the loft is fabulous for children. The kitchen is fully functional minus a dishwasher, but was fine to adjust with paper goods. There is also shared washer/dryer facilities just outside the cabin. We have great memories of this special place and would highly recommend it as a great place to stay and access the park.
Great location on the Yellowstone River, loved the sound and view into the park.
Parking is a bit tricky, and I do not know what you would do if you had more than one car.
The interior is nice, but privacy is limited as the log construction allows plenty of noise to travel from room to room and from the main floor to the upper sleeping loft.
The kitchen has basic cooking supplies, but is not overly stocked. Also, there is no dishwasher so you will be washing everything by hand.
Despite the limitations, the place worked great for three adults and I would recommend it for folks looking for a place to stay close to the park.
Great place to stay in Gardiner Everything was within walking distance, but within 15min drive to horseback riding, etc. Very clean & comfy beds. Laundry is shared w/ 3 other cabins. Overall wonderful experience w/ teenage boys.
I have stayed at the Mountain King in Gardiner on two different occasions. The cabin is wonderful and perfect for a family stay in Gardiner. However the best part is the spectacular views from the porch and sleeping with open window to the sound of the yellowstone river. The location is perfect for walking to any restaurant or store in Gardiner and very easy access to the Yellow Stone National Park entrance. I would recommend to anyone and plan to stay again.
Rafting and horse back rides and a picnic on Yellowstone lake are a must!
