What a beautiful unit! Clean, comfortable, cosy, and well appointed. What a joyful retreat after a hectic Thanksgiving week with family. Loved watching the activity on the water, and enjoyed daily excursions to the nearby beaches. Best VRBO ever.
We'll be back!
This condo was the perfect setting and location for our first trip to the Tofino/Ucluelet area. Loved watching the action on the Harbor from the deck. We did many wonderful hikes/walks, but our favorite activity was the all day Wildlife Cruise with Archipelago Cruises out of Ucluelet. Expensive, but worth every penny. Only 20 passengers. We saw so much amazing wildlife, up close and personal with great commentary AND had a gourmet lunch. We also loved the First Nation Culture Center, near Wickinesh Beach (I forget the name) and easy walk from there to amazing South Beach. We would stay in this condo again. Beautiful. September is the best month.
We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Getting in was simple via instructions provided.
There were two adults and one teenager so there was lots of room for us.
The place was very clean.
Sleeping: the bed in bedroom and sofa bed worked out well for us. We were concerned we would be too hot as there is no air conditioning but it cools off quite a bit at night so it was perfect. Pillows and duvets were comfy.
Bathroom: plenty of storage space and shower had good pressure. The tub is a soaker tub so that was nice.
Laundry: very handy to have the facilities but would be helpful in instructions/notes for apt. To indicate laundry soap is in wicker basket. Didn't realize until I already purchased some.
Kitchen: plenty of dishes and pots. Great space on island shelf to put your purchases. Appreciated thermos to use for some coffee for our fishing excursion. The only minor comment was could use a few more drinking glasses (maybe small juice ones or some plastic to use on deck) as we used coffee mugs when we ran out.
Balcony: we enjoyed sitting out and watching boats move in and the resident eagle. We called him Fred. The use of BBQ was great.
We went fishing with Tonquin fishing charters - captain John - excellent! Whale watching with the whale centre- saw 5. Big daddy's fish fry had good fish tacos and fish and chips.
Would stay here again.
This was a wonderful condo, the view was unbelievable. We enjoyed the sitting on the deck and watching the bald eagles come right up to the shoreline as the tide went out. When the tide is in the edge of the water is only about 20 feet from the deck. It was amazing to watch the fog roll in and out in the mornings and the sunsets in the evenings.
The walking and bike trail was right out the back door making it easy to get around. The shopping was within a couple of blocks.
We went to the hot springs through Jamie's Whaling Station (next door). On the trip we had seen sea lions, grey whales and about 15 Orcas. We recommend this trip, this was a totally enjoyable trip and a thrill of a lifetime.
We also did a one day fishing trip through Tofino Fishing Charters just down the block and across the street. We had a great day fishing too!
There are many great places to eat if you don't feel like cooking. The Shelter Restaurant is right across the street and has great food.
The condo was very clean and very well equipped. It had everything that we needed and more including a large pot to cook the fresh crab. There was plenty of room and a comfortable bed. We enjoyed sitting by the gas fireplace in the evening after a long day of walking on the beaches. It had plenty of books to read, movies to watch and cards if you wanted.
This was our second visit staying at this condo and they now have Wi-Fi which is a plus. This condo is a great place to stay and is reasonably priced. It is a great dollar value.
I would stay at LaVieEnRose again and again. I highly recommend staying here! Enjoy!
We stayed here in September 2013 for three nights and enjoyed the unit and Tofino enormously, indeed probably our best experience in British Columbia where we toured for 3 weeks. The accommodation was well equipped with everything we could wish for. The unit is tastefully furnished and well maintained. The location is lovely, overlooking the inlet and Meares Island - always something to observe. All in all, a wonderful spot.
My wife and I stayed at La Vie on Rose in late September 2011 and had a great time there. The condo is in a great location - walking/cycling distance to most of Tofino, a stones throw to the whale watching tour boats, great restaurants across the street. Downtown Tofino is about 4 blocks away, grocery store less than that, many restaurants/beaches/amenities in either direction. If you've got a bicycle, the bike path is pretty much just outside the back door.
The views of the inner harbor from the deck - well, I could have filled up a few memory cards taking pictures of the constantly changing light, activity, eagles, otters, kayakers and on and on.. The view of Mears Island is fantastic.
The condo itself is well kept and well equipped - the website describes it accurately, no surprises when we got there. It was very quiet, no noise from any neighbors, and the whole tidy. It's not one of the "cabins nestled on the beach" types, but it's cozy and a great place to come back to at the end of the day. Sitting on the deck at the end of the day, nice glass of wine, waves, fog, sunlight, seagulls, eagles.. yup, we had a great vacation here and if you're looking for a spot to use as a central hub for vacation activity, this would be a good place to stay.
Thanks! If we ever get back to Tofino (and we hope we do), we'll stay here again!
