I rented this cabin for a girls' trip in January and we could not have been happier! The property is beautiful and immaculately clean. The architectural detail and antiques make you feel like you are in a model home. The owner even tied up sticks and logs in the shape of a teepee for the bonfire pit, which we thoroughly enjoyed with some marshmallows! It was a 15 minute drive to downtown Asheville, yet really nice to be able to come back to a secluded rustic dream. Not to mention, I barely missed my dog at home, since all I had to do was open the back door and call out "Pebbles! Buddy!" and the adorable pups came running, ready to get some belly rubs. I would definitely recommend this property, we had a great time!
My girlfriends and I rented this house for a Girls Weekend trip. The house is even better than the photos (which are amazing online) We had everything we needed for our stay. We ended up staying in both nights to enjoy the house instead of driving into Asheville. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and even managed to get a fire going in the fire pit. There are 3 bedrooms plus a pull out sofa and a blow up mattress. The only trouble we had was connecting to the their Wifi. (we're tech savvy) We wanted to play some music in the evenings and had a hard time getting a signal. So, bring CDs in case you want some tunes while you're playing pool or darts at night. We were already planning a visit back before the weekend was over. Awesome place!
I do agree from other reviews that it's not a place for young children. There are a lot of gorgeous antiques in the home that I would not trust a toddler around.
We couldn't have picked a better home! Pool room was fantastic, jacuzzi was great after our many hikes and horseback riding. We rode with a couple who run 'saddle- up " trail rides. They were excellent. Beds were extremely comfortable including even the inflatable queen. ( which blows up in minutes). We enjoyed the owners dogs and the cat was very cool! on a walk we saw a newborn lamb, very cute. The house was decorated for Christmas with 2 nice trees. We had everything we could possibly need for a great week! Also enjoyed evening fires out back at the firepit. Thanks again for sharing your home.
The moment my friends and I entered this property we were completely beside ourselves. The pictures do not do the grounds and home justice. This review could not do this place justice.
This house is filled with beautiful (expensive!) antiques. Every details of this home was thought out. We all agreed we needed a week here to fully appreciate this place. I had a few friends who said they would even love to get married here!
Hilariously enough there was a flash light on nearly ever night stand (response to previous negative review). We found the kitchen to be more than fully stocked for us. The lighting was a little dim but that would be considered 'mood lighting' and fit perfectly with the atmosphere. There was even pump hand soap and other items that most rentals do not provide for guests.
I really don't know how anyone could say anything bad about this place. We went to the Biltmore and that was the only thing that made the house and grounds seem a little less awesome ;)
Would love to come back one day!
My husband and I, along with two other couples went to Asheville to celebrate our anniversaries and my husband's retirement. This house was perfect for our needs. It sits back in a hollow in a beautiful sitting overlooking a pond and fields where you can see horses and deer. They have three friendly dogs who like to visit. When we decided to hike one of the paths the ranch had to offer we were escorted by two of the dogs. The smallest one would direct our way if we weren't sure which path to take. It rained much of our stay so we didn't get to build a fire but we did make use of the hot tub. There was also a nice covered porch that we took advantage of. The bedrooms are small and without closets but the rest of the place is very large and well stocked. Everything was clean and very well maintained with top shelf appliances. There are televisions in every room but one bedroom. We had some trouble using them because we were unfamiliar with Direct TV. Melody, the owner, was very helpful with any questions we had. A small suggestion we might make is to add a towel rack in the bath off the game room. Otherwise, we can't say enough about our stay. We would definitely come back. Thanks to Melody and family for sharing their place with us.
While this is a beautiful property
With an equally beautiful vista, there are definitely some details that need immediate attention. Yes, the owners have done a good job in the kitchen. However, it is so dark and the lighting so poor that I had to buy a lamp
At goodwill to see how to cook. Fully stocked? For a colander, I used the top of a double boiler. Never did find an oven mitt. The first morning we were there we discovered we had no gas to turn on the burner. A pretty major detail that should have been attended to before we got there. Speaking of gas, we never did get the gas logs or the grills to work. Worst of all, we went without power for two
Straight nights. While I understand the owner could not help that, it would have been very nice to have a
Flashlight available to see how to get around. She obviously didn't care because when we called to ask about a flashlight her response was "there should be one or two in a drawer" There weren't. Thank heavens I had packed a few candles and matches. The second night the power was out for six hours. As for new plush mattresses, not exactly. Pillows were flat and only the king mattress was decent. Living room furniture was comfortable but the toss pillows were so stained, we just threw them off. It would take so little effort to
Get this house in really good shape. Hope the owner pays you more attention then she did us. As a matter of fact, this weeks experience has turned me off vrbo.
