Perfect if being in or very close to town and pet friendliness is important. The rooms are well furnished with plenty of linen and bath towels. The kitchen has everything needed for a variety of cooking options—though a couple more dishcloths would have been nice. The kitchen has received all of the recent update attention and this makes the rest of the spaces average for the age of the home. With just a few changes in wall hangings, fresh paint, and general but detailed cleaning, the overall appearance would be greatly enhanced. As it is and though rated high for convenience to Brevard, we found the place comfortable but still just average in any setting. The owner was very easy to work with and was easy in and easy out--super process for closing out our stay through a simple text message.
Our group of mountain bikers stayed here for the weekend. DuPont Forest is 15-20 minutes away, and with Oskar Blues Brewing in town, it makes for a fantastic mountain bike getaway. The only minor surprise was the lack of central heating in the downstairs (the main floor is centrally heated and toasty warm). The temp dropped in to the teens during our stay. The space heater kept up, but made for chilly downstairs bathroom visits. Perhaps there is central heating downstairs and we just missed it. Overall - great place and we hope to be back.
We enjoyed our stay here. Safe neighborhood, centrally located in downtown Brevard. Convenient to many wonderful hiking, biking trails, Blue Ridge Parkway, etc. We enjoyed walking downtown to the quaint shops, eateries and art galleries. The only disappointment we had were the acorns falling from the trees and pinging off the tin roof in the front of the house. It was VERY loud and made it impossible to sleep in the front bedroom this time of the year. This was unexpected and very unfortunate. Otherwise everything else was great and Susan was very nice and responsive.
We are a family of 2 middle aged parents and an 8 year old boy. This house felt just like home. We were instantly comfortable. Its a great location to all area activities. Susan was very helpful in assisting our last minute reservation. Would stay again in the future.
Beautiful kitchen. Had everything you needed. Two upstairs bedrooms okay. Bathroom small. Downstairs needs a lot of TLC. Very quiet street - loved sitting in the front porch. Close to town. I would stay again.
The house was well equipped for our needs. I was there specifically for fishing the davidson river and the house was close and reasonably priced. There was plenty of sleeping space for several guests which was ideal for me since we had 4 people.
