SHENANDOAH VALLEY FARM HOUSE

Waynesboro House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 9)

Purple Haze farm house (circa 1908) was totally renovated in 2006. We are a 200 acre working farm with cattle and crops, fronting the South River, at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. You can see the house from overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The view from the house will cure high blood pressure in a minute.

Because it is an old farm house with additions (total of around 3100 sq ft} the floor plan is unique. Downstairs includes all the public rooms plus a full bath. Upstairs includes three bedrooms (one queen and two doubles), a bunk room with a single and bunks which sleeps 3, and two full baths. One of the baths is off a central hall, the other is off one of the double bed bedroom. The upstairs rooms are on three levels, often requiring a step or two between rooms and the hall. If you are a person easily disoriented when you wake up at night, you may want to stay in the room with the ensuite bath with no steps. Also, it has a metal roof, so you will hear rain and wind storms if one arises.

The address is 118 Hall School Rd, Waynesboro, VA 22980, should you wish to map it. (For reasons I don't understand, many gps/map programs show the house about 1/2 mile south of it's actual location on Hall School Rd. The VRBO map included. We are on the other side of Libscomb Rd. This is important if you are using such a program to get to us. If you end up looking at a vineyard, you are a little south of us. Just read the mailbox numbers, or find the Mennonite church, which is across the cowfield from our house.)

While only a few miles from the interstate, we are in a lovely rural setting. With 3/4 mile frontage on the South River, we have lovely paths for hiking and gentle water for canoeing (no rapids) and fishing. Lots of bass and trout. This area is particularly nice for biking, with many rural roads, and excellent mountain biking trails nearby in the national forest. With 24 wineries within 25 miles, you can enjoy a grand tour or just visit a couple only 10 minutes away. Lake Sherando is 15 minutes away for swimming. We also have pool passes at two nearby hotels so you can swim indoors or out.

In the Fall the colors of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley are amazing. There is no extra charge for them.

Special note to fall 2013 visitors. October 26 is our annual haunted barn party. We have an elaborate haunted barn on the lower level and a big party on the upper level of the barn. There will be lots of people and lots of fun. If you stay with us that weekend you should be prepared for noise Friday night when we have about forty kids over to rehearse and eat pizza. Sat night there will be about 300 to 400 people at the party. If you have kids, they can be zombie actors/actresses in the barn, or you can just come to the par6y. If you are a group of adults looking for a peaceful weekend in the country, you would find it quieter at Walmart.

You'll have a full modern kitchen, or many restaurants nearby for dining. The den features a card table and a large HD TV with DVD. In the barn there is foosball, air hockey , basket ball, ping pong and a skate board halfpipe (at your own risk.)

Behind the house there is a patio with a wonderful view of the property and the Blue Ridge Mountains. We have recently expanded the patio to include a firepit and a hottub.

If you are so inclined, you can visit our chickens and three miniture donkeys, Fiona,Fergie and baby Olive. You can win their hearts with an apple or carrot, or by brushing their coats.

We are less than 30 minutes from Charlottesville (Monticello and University of Virginia), Wintergreen(golf and skiing) and Staunton(Frontier museum and Shakespeare Theater). 45 minutes from Harrisonburg, Masanutten with it's waterpark and skiing, Lexington and the Safari zoo. About 2 hours from Richmond, Williamsburg, Jamestown and 3 hours from Washington DC and Virginia Beach.

Dulles airport is 2.5 hours and Richmond airport is about 90 minutes.

Come settle in on our farm for a week, take in all the fun activities in the area, and then relax with the comforts and room of home.

We also have a large 100 year old barn, picnic area and lawn area available for events. We rent the barn, picnic area and farm house as a bundle for weddings, etc. Cost is $2500 for the weekend (3 nights in the house, 1 large event in the barn) which gives you time to decorate and take down your event leisurely. Call if you are interested.

Brad, Deana, Dalton, Liam and a host of animals live on the farm. Deana was born and raised in the area. Brad moved here 25 years ago to work, fell in love with the area and Deana. Neither is leaving.

We bought the farm in 2004, and moved into the farm house a few years later. In 2009 we built a new home on the farm, and thus the farm house became available for VRBO.

Dalton and Liam have lived on the farm most of their lives. Like most kids, they don't have a clue how lucky they are.

Brad Tipler purchased this house in 2004

Lots of reasons, including, the view, the view, the view........

We live in a rural peaceful area, but the necessities (and luxuries ) of modern life are just 10 minutes away.

LOVED OUR TIME HERE!

  • 5 of 5
Lovely home! Warm welcome from the owners! Lots to do! We ranged in age from 50 something to 7 years old. There is plenty to do on property and in the area. The home is very well kept. It is a walk through time that we all found very interesting. Two grandsons, 7 and almost 9, absolutely loved the "Kid Zone" room and playing with extensive Lego collection. Played all games in barn, tried out the half-pipe, outdoors is a basketball hoop and playground and also plenty of space for kicking a soccer ball, etc. So nice to have a large area to play without a ball going into neighbors yard or street! Everyone loved the animals and commented on what a beautiful and peaceful place it is. Made good use of the hot tub as well. Thank you Brad and Deana! We hope to be back soon.

Owner's Response: So glad you had a good time. Thank you for taking such good care of our home. We enjoyed having you here. I think you may have spoiled the donkeys a little with so many treats (which is a good thing according to Deana.) They were looking for you. Hope you can come again.

PERFECT WEEKEND GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
I rented this house for a Presidents Day/Birthday weekend trip for myself and several friends. We had a wonderful stay- the farm house is really large and comfortably fit all 9 of us. The hot tub was wonderful and so relaxing to be able to sit outside with the snow and the full moon enjoying the beautiful scenery. The photos are accurate, the house was warm and welcoming, nicely maintained and stocked with a full kitchen of supplies and plenty of space for cooking and eating. While we were there we went out wine tasting. Owner Deana had provided some very useful suggestions and recommendations for our group- we did find however that reservations are preferable for groups of 6 or more at most tasting rooms. Brad was very helpful and checked in with me regarding the snow and driving conditions prior to our arrival and was very flexible about when we came and departed. He stopped by the house once during our stay to answer questions and for the payment. While he was around the property during our stay, we still felt as if the house was our own.

The house is very near to grocery shopping and restaurants and easy to get to off of the highway (about a 3 hour drive from DC). Overall thank you for a great stay!

ANNE AND EXTENDED FAMILY

  • 5 of 5
It was a very comfortable and relaxing few days. The house was clean, had plenty of room and all the kitchen amenities. The property is big and so enjoyable for walking. The last evening spent at the firepit with a full moon above is most memorable. We enjoyed trips to Layne's Antiques, the Veritas winery, the Cheese Shop and to charming Staunton. Otherwise, it was great just hanging out. The owners were available but not intrusive at all. Before we left, Brad gave us some delicious, just-picked tomatoes, and I helped myself to some dried-out manure for my home garden! I highly recommend the property.

HARVEY, DIANE AND FAMILY

  • 5 of 5
What a great place to stay. The Tripler’s where great hosts. I recommend this Farm house to anyone. The view was terrific. I was totally stressed out when we arrived and the morning we left 6 days later I had no stress. Watching the Corn and Soybeans grow in the field early in the morning was very relaxing. Don't forget the South River it is full of surprises.

Also early in the morning the Deer would come out to graze in the Southeast field behind the Minoite Church. In the evening we would see Fox and I think Ground Hog's moving through the South field. If you are a Cow watcher this is the place.

The Barn was beautiful!!! You can put 500 people in the Barn with plenty of room remaining. Barn dance anyone:)

The House has a friendly Ghost He or She paid a visit in the front TV room. It was a blue figure that raced by me and my Grand Daughter and went through the window. What an experience! I had goose bumbs:)

Don't forget the firepit in the evening. The view of the blue ridge mountians is very relaxing.

Our whole family had a great time and we will be back next year for another week of fun filled enjoyment and to visit the friendly ghost.

I totally recommend this farm house for anyone. There is no limit to the fun you can have. No boom boom music on the road. No traffic to speak of. Peace and quite is the deal here. The only noise is what you make:)

Give this farm house a visit and you yourself will have a great experience of peace and quite. It's all in how you make your visit.

We lived in the house for 3 years and have been renting it for 3 more, but I believe yours is the first paranormal activity. Lucky you.
Future renters can expect peace, quiet, cows, deer, groundhogs, donkeys, etc. and a clean, comfortable house. I can't promise a friendly ghost. However, if you come the last weekend in October, there will be at least a hundred zombies in the barn having a very good time.
Please come again.

FANTASTIC FAMILY GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
Photos cannot properly capture the beauty of this property and home! We arrived and were astonished by how large the inside of the house was! Immaculately kept and stocked with every ammenity you need to be comfortable! It had been renovated with fantastic modern touches and the decor was beautiful.

Our four children, ages 2 through 10, were in heaven playing in the barn with all the games, swimming in the hot tub, riding bikes, and playing on the swingset. We didn't even leave the property for the first day and a half because there was so much to do! Brad left a detailed book with great places to eat and things to see in the nearby area. Both he and his wife were absolutely lovely and answered any questions we had.

This area in Virginia has so much to see and do. The house is quiet and private and yet so close to all the major highways. Getting around was a breeze!

The view from the property is breathtaking! We loved all the places we visited while in Virginia but we all agreed that what made this vacation so amazing was staying at this property. I highly recommend it! We will be back!

CHARMING FARMHOUSE

  • 5 of 5
The house was great -- warm, welcoming, clean, and well-equipped. We arrived to find relaxing music playing in the kitchen and some goodies to welcome us (including a bottle of wine, candy, and fruit). The Tiplers were terrific hosts, and stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed. They also provided recommendations for dining, etc. in nearby towns. We enjoyed wandering around the property, visiting with the goats, relaxing in the hot tub, and evening s'mores around the fire pit. We were there with another family (4 adults and 4 kids), and the house was the perfect size for our two families. We look forward to returning again sometime when we can enjoy the farm house in warmer weather!
