Incredible!!

C&StP Boston,MA
Review Submitted: September 13, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Where do I begin, from the minute we stepped into the house our cares disappeared. Whether we were sitting on the upper deck watching a spectacular sunset or lounging by the water reading a book we couldn't stop thinking how lucky we were to have found this place. Inside and out extremely clean and neat. Nearby grocery/video/liquor/ stores five minutes away. What more can I say. Mary Ann was great to rent from.

We already booked two weeks for 2010!

Relaxing Retreat for Family

PHll Vermont
Review Submitted: April 6, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
This lakefront home is clean, comfortable and well equipped. It had everything to make our vacation perfect. The lake is beautiful. We enjoyed early morning walks and swims in the lake. We would end our day enjoying the spectacular sunsets on the deck overlooking the lake. There is plenty to do swimming, hiking, fishing, or just relaxing with a good book. Loved the private surroundings but it was also easy to get to stores for food and a newspaper. Liked the fact that this house is lakefront but an easy drive to the ocean. The owners were very helpful . Would definitely return for another summer vacation.

This property is as advertised - and more

JAMG Ottawa, ON, Canada
Review Submitted: March 18, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008
We thoroughly enjoyed our week-long retreat on Calef Island. Leading up to our stay, our hosts were most obliging and responded promptly to all of our emailed requests for information and detail. On arrival, we found the property to be faithfully as advertised, a private oasis on a well-maintained lot, surrounded by mature trees and fronting upon a safe, sandy beach.
The house is spacious enough to accommodate a family or other group of four to six in comfort. We appreciated the spacious, well-equipped kitchen. Large eating and recreation areas provide indoor space should a rainy day come along. Many quiet nooks and relaxation areas ensure tranquil times when needed, including a sheltered balcony, a veranda below, and peaceful hammocks tucked away in a secluded, shady area along the shoreline. We spent many hours on the balcony in comfy deck chairs enjoying sunsets over the hills at the end of the lake, and the frequent presence of loons, their cries both surprising and haunting. Current novels are available in the house, as is a collection of DVDs. There is also a video store nearby, as well as a large grocery store and a choice of several restaurants.

Calef Island Getaway

P & S Cromwell, CT
Review Submitted: March 11, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
The owners' description of this vacation home is very accurate. This is truly a most beautiful spot; the best on the lake!
The home is comfortable, bright, sunny, spacious and located in a very private setting. The park like grounds are wonderfully accessible to all and offer secret spots for sneaking away to read your favorite book (or to get away from everyone else for a moment of solitude). The lake is great for boating and swimming. A kayak or canoe is ideal for site seeing, exploring, exercise and fishing. You do not need a boat with a motor to see the entire lake.
The sunsets were indescribably pretty.
We saw plenty of Loons and a Bald Eagle!
We aren't "fishermen" but managed to catch dinner for 5!
Bring lots of film or extra digital memory cards.
1 week was not enough time.
We will be back.
Some suggestions:
Bring a bottle of a product called "GOO-GONE" for quick clean ups. There was a lot of pine sap, but it does not ruin your shoes or clothing.
The owner allowed us to bring our well mannered very old Basset Hound. It was a little difficult for him to negotiate the stairs....but he had fun too!
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the wonderful review, we take great pride in our property. Look forward to seeing you and your family soon for two weeks! Mary Ann
