Lewes cottage
The house itself is adorable. The rooms are good sized and very well decorated. The house is comfortable and well laid out. We really enjoyed the second floor with the king bed separate bath. The outdoor screened in porch was fabulous and the property itself is lovely with lots of space. There were just two problems. One was that the bed on the main level was just a bit shy of a double bed. It is not a queen sized bed. This caused some tension and discomfort with the other adult there who needed a bigger bed for her and her daughter. The other problem was significant construction, which is going on just on the other side of the house. They began at seven every day and were done around 10. The first morning was so loud the house was shaking, but every other morning was completely manageable. It would’ve been nice to have known this in advance. Other than that, we loved the property and would consider staying there again, especially if the construction project is completed.

Cork-screw Willow in Gorgeous setting!
Thoughtful, high-end reno of a lovely old Lewes Cape house. Setting of house and large yard with tall screened porch perfectly meld with landscape. Away from all of the crowds and noise. A true retreat.

Quaint stay in Lewes
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Overall, this property really is a gem. It's both roomy and cozy and provided a ton of charm. The open spaces both behind and next to the house provided a good environment for our kids to run around as well as an extra layer of peace. The house is beautifully curated with thoughtful design elements throughout, retaining its original cottage feel mixed with midcentury vibes. The space is just short drive away from the downtown and local beaches, and just enough away to feel like you've retreated from the crowds at the end of the day. Really recommend this spot.

Needs maintenance and general upkeep
Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: From the outside, this property has potential: it's quiet, has a spacious fenced yard, and details like an old wooden swing. But the maintenance is lacking, and the property does not seem to be sufficiently managed. Upon arrival, the keys wouldn't work in the front door; they only worked on the kitchen doorknob. But inexplicably, the gate leading right from the driveway to the kitchen/porch was zip-tied shut. Around the house, the gate by the outdoor shower (which, surprise, is fully open on one side) was held shut by a potted plant. A used washcloth had been left hanging on the gate. The screens on the porch were weathered and falling out of the door frames. Inside the house, we found a dishwasher full of dishes, a full trash can under the sink, a full clothes drier, and personal effects still in the bathrooms: towels hanging up, soap and razors in the showers. We brought our dogs, but found (as we cleaned up after our pets) that the yard hadn't been picked up, and when we went to clean up mid-week, I found the vacuum was full of another pet's fur. The kitchen light wouldn't turn off, and the fan wouldn't turn on. And items left in the kitchen (a pile of plastic bags from take-out orders, half-used jars of cooking oils and other effects) made it feel like we'd walked into the home of someone who had just stepped out for a moment... a feeling that was later validated by our agent, who shared that the owner was in residence right after we departed. I wanted to love this property, and in many ways it is special. But I was told that because I didn't call and report every issue I found right away (which is just what you want to do after coming off a road trip with pets and a small child), my insurance would be billed for damage (notably, the weathered porch screens) that was clearly there before we arrived. This house needs maintenance and a thorough walk-through -- preferably with a manager who is able to be objective and put the needs of potential tenants first.
