Los Almendros is an upscale, beachfront development on Playa Ocotal’s northern shore. This modern, secure, gated community has 43 condominiums. The unit offered, #42, is only 3 years old. It has a fully equipped kitchen, cable television, telephone and separately controlled air conditioners in each room. It has an unobstructed ocean view and sits directly above a tropical forest. The rear patio has a hammock, and is quiet, peaceful location to watch birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, iguanas and other beautiful Guanacaste wildlife. The condo is tastefully decorated with artwork and pottery from Guatemala, Honduras and Costa Rica. Los Almendros has three swimming pools, two outdoor barbecues, beautifully landscaping and is only a 2 minute walk to the beach. Free internet is available in the Reception area (Desk top & Wi-Fi). Beachfront is Best !!! Playa Ocotal is a clean, safe, beautiful beach. Its protected shoreline provides guests a quiet, peaceful place to swim, snorkel and relax. The popular Father Rooster's restaurant sits next door to Los Almenros & serves great food and drinks in a casual atmosphere. Vacation planners who are familiar with Playa Ocotal, prefer staying at a beachfront development. They know that Playa Ocotal has no public restrooms, no guarded parking lots and no pulperias to purchase cold beverages. Most vacationers prefer not having to hike to the beach carrying food, beverages and beach towels. Car rental agencies often advise customers not to park rental vehicles in areas that are not secure. Los Almendros offers it’s guests secure parking, beachfront convenience and lower rental rates than our beachfront competitors. Los Almendros is 30 min. from the Liberia Airport, 4 hrs from the San Jose airport, 5 min. from Coco and 20 min.from a challenging 18 hole golf course.

Planning Vacation Activities: Playa Ocotal is an excellent location from which to initiate day trips. Los Almendros has an experienced, bilingual office staff that assists guests in making reservations for deep sea fishing, diving, snorkeling, sailing, surfing, white water rafting, massages, tours of national parks, bird watching, hot spring bathing, rain forest tours, volcanoes, canopy tours and horseback riding. The on-site General Manager has been with Los Almendros for over ten years. He is bilingual, a Guanacaste native, and knows all the local tour operators. One of his greatest strengths is his ability to help guests plan and coordinate their vacation activities. A typical day at Los Almendros: 1) Wake to the sounds of tropical wildlife. 2) Take an early morning walk on the beach. 3) Enjoy a half day tour (deep sea fishing, snorkeling, hiking…) or swim and bask in the sun at Playa Ocotal, an award winning “Blue Flag” beach. 4) Relax at a swimming pool and converse with vacation travelers from around the world. 5) Go next door to Father Rooster’s Restaurant to sip margaritas and watch the sun set. 6) Drive 5 minutes into Coco to shop for souvenirs. Dine at one of the area’s excellent restaurants. 7) Fall asleep listening to the ocean surf!!!

Transportation: Taxi’s into Coco cost $6-7 each way. Tour operators pick-up and drop off at Los Almendros. Taxi service is available to and from the Liberia airport. An automobile is nice to have…but is not a necessity in Costa Rica. Secure parking is available in front of each condominium. Los Almendros has 24 hour security.

Great week on the beach!

We had a wonderful week at Los Almendros. The condo was a great place to spend a week, clean and quiet with amazing view of the ocean. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare several of our meals so that we didn't have to eat out 3 times a day. Loved being so close to the beach. Snorkeling was very good in the shallow water near the rocks directly behind Los Almendros. There were also two very nice swimming pools, and we spent almost as much time at the pools as we did on the beach. The restaurant next door, Father Rooster’s, is literally on the beach. It became our favorite spot for an early evening drink. The food was good too.

The office staff is very nice. Stefanie and Nino speak good English and provided help booking a day of deep sea fishing and a snorkeling tour. We enjoyed several of the restaurants in Coco which are a quick 5 minute drive away. The nightlife in Coco is enjoyable with a number of bars and a few clubs to chose from. We were definitely pleased with our decision to stay at Los Almendros. Rental rates are fantastic for a nearly new condo with such a great location.

Great spot for relaxation and adventure

Wonderful end unit condo with a great view of the ocean. Beds were comfortable, everything was neat and clean, and full kitchen had everything we needed to prepare several of our meals.

Beach was great for swimming. Los Almendros is one of only a few nearby developments, so the beach almost feels private. Snorkeling was very good in the shallow water near the rocks directly behind Los Almendros. The two swimming pools were also great. Our family actually spent more time around the pool then we did on the beach.

Our family enjoyed the restaurant next door, Father Rooster’s. It’s right on the beach. Great food, good drinks and a very nice staff. Try the nacho chips…they are a meal for two.

The office staff is very nice. Stefanie and Nino speak very good English. Nino the General manger arranged for a day of deep sea fishing and a snorkeling tour. Both were excellent.

We enjoyed several of the restaurants in nearby Coco, and the clubs in town were pretty busy Friday and Saturday night.

We were definitely pleased with our decision to stay at Los Almendros. Rental rates are fantastic for a beachfront property. It was a great spot to relax and enjoy a week.

Perfect Beach vacation

We loved the location of this condo, overlooking the Ocotal beach, quiet and very nice, within a short walking distance from the beach. The view from the window and the patio is perfect, the ocean on one side, and the trees and a beautiful tropical garden on the other. The place is safe, clean, nicely decorated and has all kitchen gadgets needed for a week stay. The place is air conditioned with the state of the art AC units, very quiet and efficient.
The unit owners were very helpful with accomodating our needs and providing excellent directions and pointers to the local food and markets. When we arrived, everything was as we expected and better - the spatious patio with ocean view, rocking chairs and a hammock. We also appreciated the multi-system DVD player.
The Internet is available in the manager's office down the hill ( a pleasant 3 minutes walk down the hill), wireless connection is available 24 x 7, the night gards always allowed us in to use the Internet.
We had a car to get to Coco (about 3 km away from Ocotal) and other places.
Overall, we were very happy with the place and our stay and would recommend it to friends!
