This is a lovely large contemporary saltbox with numerous skylights and large open, sunny areas. First level has an open floor plan and a massive stone fireplace with wood stove. There is a living room area with 2 couches, a regulation pool table, a dining area, a full kitchen with breakfast bar, a bedroom and a full bath. There is also TV with cable, DVD player and WiFi. Second level has two bedrooms and large master bath. The third level offers a huge bedroom loft and small seating area (great get-away space for the kids!).Large basement has laundry with washer/ dryer, third bathroom, a universal weight machine and an additional room w/ regulation sized ping-pong table. Four sets of snowshoes are located in the basement, available for use with cross country skiing and snowshoe trails minutes away. Located in Thornton, house is 15 minutes from both Loon Mountain and Waterville Valley Ski Resorts. Cannon Mountain is a 30 minute drive away. 4 WHEEL DRIVE NEEDED DURING WINTER MONTHS!!

Nearest Motorway: exit 28 off Rt. 93 at 5 Miles

The house is in the White Mountains.Hiking is a major year round activity. A loop trail many people use for a workout is the Mt Dickey/Mount Welsh loop. It is a modest climb with many beautiful views. World class hiking is found throughout the White Mountains, as is skiing,snowboarding, snowshoeing and cross countryskiing. This is very much a year round outdoor recreational area, with canoeing and kayaking in the summer months. The town of Lincoln, ten minutes from the house, is a full service town, with many restaurants ,shops, a movie theatre and live theatre in the summer. Also nearby is the picturesque town of Woodstock,with a theme park of trained live bears and the entrance to Franconia State Park in the White Mountains. Sight seeing and 'leaf peeping' are very high up on visitors lists of things to do. Wildlife spotting, especially looking for moose, is a popular pastime.Antique shops and crafts shows can be a good way to spend a rainy day.

Plenty of Room

When we were on our way up to this home, which is in Thornton, 10 minutes from Lincoln, we drove up this dirt road and up a small hill and we saw the home all by itself with trees surrounding it and were already happy. We wanted to be secluded and away and thats what we got. Big yard, volleyball net, fire pit. Then we got inside and it was huge, 3rd floor loft, 3 bathrooms, nice hot showers, big kitchen, pool table. They have a pretty good selection of movies. GREAT view from the living room windows of the mountains, go to the second floor and get a better view. We had a great sleep, the king size bed in the master room has the adjustable comfort, like those sleep number beds. It was great. No complaints from anyone in our party. We had one night when we had a rainy wind storm and there were some strong gusts and we lost power. The house was pitch black, so I recommend bringing a flashlight just in case. It wasn't really a problem for us except one of our kids woke up screaming at night and i had to find my way to his room. No worries. We were sad to leave, as we packed the van, and locked the door we took one last look inside and left, it was like the end of On Golden Pond. The hosts are great and they were great communicating with us, we mostly emailed them, but they always got back to us quickly. The pictures don't do justice to this home, its truly amazing!

I give this house an overall 10 out of 10. The owners Bob and Jean where fantastic to work with. The pictures of the house do not due this house justice. Total privacy, and all sorts of activities at this house for the young and old. All the sky lights and windows really opens this house up which brings the outside in and is so beautiful. I will use this house every time I go up in that area. This house was great for this summer and I would love to use it for a ski house. The rates where better than everyone elses and so where the other fees. Highly highly recommend this one to anyone... Thanks Bob and Jean for an unforgetable time!!!!!!
