Fantastic, secluded winter vacation spot

This is a hidden gem of a place I feel lucky to have found!
My goal was to spend a weekend with friends, cooking and relaxing in a secluded spot where we could set our small dogs loose in the snow, without worrying about them getting hit by cars or attacked by wild animals.
Using this website, I narrowed it down to five locations; Justine, the proprietor of Dragonfly Farm, was the first to get back to me. She was friendly, extremely responsive by both phone and e-mail, and helpfully answered all of my questions, unlike some of the other places I had contact with. Booking a reservation was simple and straightforward.
The cabin itself is beautiful! It was spotlessly clean, well-appointed, and that rare, perfect blend of rustic and modern. Downstairs is a bedroom, a living room with a woodburning stove, a kitchen, and dining table. Upstairs is a large, airy loft comprised of a bed set and living room set-up (both living rooms had plush, leather couch and armchair sets). The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of extra blankets for couch lounging. Anywhere you settle in this house is immediately comfortable. There are also TVs and DVD players on both floors with Direct TV.
There's no cell service at the house, but frankly I consider that a plus! There's a landline in case of emergency.
The house's heating system is thorough, with no cold spots. The upstairs can get warm, but if you turn the ceiling fan on and open the windows, problem solved. The shower had plenty of hot water as well.
Justine had warned us that the local grocery was temporarily closed for renovations, so we were sure to bring up enough food; everything else you might need was amply stocked--paper towels, toilet paper, bath towels for all six of us, garbage bags, matches, candles, and plenty of firewood. There were even extra ice trays, which is nice when you're going through cocktails. We had the woodburning stove going constantly and still had plenty of wood left over by trip's end.
The air is a bit on the dry side, though I imagine that's the region and not some flaw with the house. In retrospect I would have liked to have a humidifier.
I can't speak on the local attractions, because as I said before the goal was to stay in, cook, lounge, and relax. None of us wanted to leave the cabin--especially the dogs, who loved playing in the deep snow--and the worst part of the trip was having to leave!
Owner's Response: Thanks for this wonderful review of our rental home, I'm so happy that you, your friends, and your dogs had such a nice time. We feel the same regret when it comes time to leave!
I would just like to clarify a few points that you mention. Maybe you weren't aware of this but our telephone is not just for emergency use. It has unlimited local, regional and national coverage and comes free of charge. Secondly, just to reassure future renters, our (new & improved) local supermarket has reopened so renters do not have to bring food supplies with them anymore.
Also, going forward into the summer months we'll be installing an A/C unit in the upstairs bedroom suite, as it does tend to get hot up there.
Thanks once more and we look forward to having you stay with us again in the future.
All the best,
Justine, owner
