Our family likes to ski and snowboard, hike, go boating, kayaking, fishing. Southern Vermont and the Deerfield Valley offers all that and more.
Greg & Marie Quill purchased this house in 2008
Mt. Snow offers fantastic skiing and snowboarding. We also wanted to be close by to take care of our home.
We love how close our home is to the mountain and how much room there is for everyone to spread out or gather around to play games or enjoy a nice dinner. Our home has nice, comfortable furnishings and decor, but everyone can feel relaxed and right at home.
We enjoyed staying in your beautiful home! The setting is gorgeous. We had lots of snow which made for a perfect ski vacation. We will leave with some wonderful memories. What a great way to bring in the New Year.
A group of 9 of us stayed at Balsam Cottage over the long MLK weekend. We found the instructions provided by the owner resourceful and helpful throughout our stay. The property was well cleaned and furnished upon our arrival. We took full advantage of the fire place and board games- great amenities to the property. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to ski at Mount Snow as it's also a quick 5 minute drive to the mountain.
In regards to "the step", which seemed to be the only cause for concern on some previous reviews. We didn't find this to be a huge issue. We did have a few take a little stumble but there is a clear sign hanging above the stairs cautioning everyone to watch their step. It's also outlined in the arrival instructions the owners provide prior to checking in. Keep an eye out for it and you should be fine!
This is our second year in a row staying at the Cottage. We really enjoy everything about it. There was 10 of us and we had plenty of room. The house, kitchen, and appliances are always clean and easy to use. The house is less than 5 minutes from mount snow. We really love the big living room that had enough space for all of us to hang out by the fire and play games.
The home was very cute with lots of charm. We stayed as three families with kids spanning from six to sixteen and enjoyed relaxing and hanging out in this spacious and fun home.
The downsides are...the steps going upstairs and downstairs are a total hazard and three of us fell down a few steps and could have been badly hurt (not sure why they wouldn't want to fix this), the top bunk bed is not stable enough to sleep in, the game room only offers a vcr, no darts for the dartboard, Master bath is tiny, full beds are small for grown ups, pots werent great and there were no deadbolts on any of the doors. The Fireplace had smoke baking up into the house even worth the flue open. The light switches are a pain to figure out and temp isn't the easiest to regulate but all that being said, it is really a nice place to hang out.
The owner was readily available for help and even texted me during our stay.
We unf. did not enjoy Mount snow that much. The food was terrible and despite advertisements for live music we couldn't find it anywhere :(
Luckily, we bonded as a family! :) hope this helps!
We recently stayed at Balsam Cottage for our couples (4) retreat. The kitchen was well stocked, and house has a great layout for game playing, cooking, hanging out, and relaxing in general. The long kitchen table was perfect and we enjoyed our meals together. We were fortunate to have nice weather so we enjoyed the deck and the outdoor fireplace as well. The owners were a pleasure to work with and they keep their home neat, up-to-date, and well provisioned for a collection of guests spanning many ages. With 8 adults, everyone found plenty to do with the hot-tub, pool table, dart board, and many of the board games on hand. I would definitely recommend this location for anyone looking for a great getaway.
We had a great time weekend in West Dover. We stayed at this property with 8 adults and I wouldn't recommend more than 9 if nobody wants to sleep on a couch. It took a while to establish the first contact to the owners, but everything worked perfectly from that point on. The communication was friendly adn effcient. The house description was accurate and there was no hidden cleaning fee. Towels and linens are included. The house itself offers everything you need: a well equipped kitchen, hot tub, pool table, 2 TVs, fireplace, grill, ... I would certainly recommend this place.
This really is a great house. It is large, well-furnished, and well-stocked. The hot tub is great and so are all the games to play - pool, foosball, etc.
I stayed here with my 3 young adult children and a couple of friends for a week - everyone loved it. Plenty to do in the surrounding area as well.
