Island View is a private drive directly on the lake and not on the West Lake road traffic.The property has 150 foot of Lake frontage which is ground level(no steps, stairs,circular walkways or ramps),but directly on the lake approximately 8 steps from our large courtyard patio completely surrounding the Luxury Home Lake front. We are in a preserve area which means total privacy and no noisy traffic with plenty of parking for everyone. Also,the property is directly across from the Canandaigua pier (far enough away for privacy,but a excellent view of the all that the northern end of the lake offers.Also, Squaw Island (the smallest registered Island in the USA)is very close and in complete view. The area of the lake we reside in is called 'Chosen Spot Cove'. 50th Birthday Family Reunion

We rented this house to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday with a family reunion--we needed something big enough to accommodate our extended family. This house was perfect--plenty of sleeping space and beautiful views. Although it was winter so we didn't use the lakefront at all, the fact that we were right on the lake gave us something wonderful to wake up to each morning. The rec room was a nice addition--it gave our (young adult) kids somewhere to hang out without their parents being in their teeth. I had chosen this house not only for the number of available beds, but also because the open floor plan allowed for our whole family to be together even while a few were in the kitchen preparing meals and so forth. It was clean, the beds were very comfortable; we purchased the linen service for simplicity's sake and found the provided bedding and towels were quite nice as well. There was ample parking for the many cars we ended up with over the weekend as people came down on their own schedules.

Although it's pretty close to the village, it's not an easy walk so you do need a car to get back and forth to the town of Canandaigua. Canandaigua is, of course, in the heart of the Finger Lakes and there are plenty of opportunities for wine tours and the like. Also, if you're visiting, don't miss the New York Wine and Culinary Institute. Our entire crew went in for a wine tasting and the young woman doing the wine tastings that day was an absolute treasure--we had a ball with her. We've been to the restaurant and taken classes there before--it's a must-do if you're in town.

Chuck was very easy to work with, including after the weekend when we had to collect a couple of forgotten items. I have no hesitation in recommending this location to others!

A week at property 214633

We had a very satisfactory week at this property with 14 guests. It was clean with very large accomodations. The beach is small and the lake bottom is shallow and muddy, but we had a power boat, kayaks and a Sunfish (ours) to get away from the beach. The dock is adequate for these activities. As for the house, it was all we expected and needed. The kitchen is excellent, well equipped, with lots of storage room and a large refrigerator/freezer. A minor annoyance was the fact that no light switches are labelled, so you have to hunt around quite a bit to find out where to turn on things. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to others. The owner was very helpful. The listing shows 5 baths, which is misleading - there are actually only 4 but except for the master bedroom, all others are shared.

Beautiful Home and Vacation Spot

We used this home for our entire family. Those who couldn't fit stayed at the inn nearby. We truly enjoyed our time there and made great use of the dock for our boats. The fishing was great although we may have emptied the lake of perch! The description of the place and location were accurate and the owners were helpful and very responsive to questions. Based on other large homes we have rented in both OBX and the Finger Lakes region I can say that this was one of the cleanest, best maintained, and well stocked homes we have ever stayed in. For those not familiar with the lake, please know that it is quite shallow from the dock to Squaw Island. Not a problem, just something to be aware of.

While there we enjoyed a dinner out at a place called Eric's Office Restaurant and Taproom. Very good meal. Again, it was a good week and we would have no reservations about recommending the location or the owners.

Boys Weekend

Rented the Island View property for our 28th annual high school reunion boy’s weekend away. We have traveled in many areas of Ontario, Michigan, and New York. The area of Canandaigua is going to rate up at the top of all time.

Chuck was able to accommodate 13 of us with a spectacular facility to meet our needs. The home is spacious for large groups with many sleeping/bathroom/shower facilities.

It was a gorgeous weekend which allowed opportunity to take advantage of the beautiful decking/dock spaces and awesome views.

Our surprise was the magnificent restaurants/bars and shopping a very short distance away. We made some great new friends at Bristol Harbour Golf Resort; their hospitality was out of this world. Their kind nature was reflective of all of the people of the Canandaigua area (even the police office that brought our lost friend back home!!!)

We had boys from Windsor to Kingston make the trip – easily accessible from all parts of Ontario.

Great memories – thanks Chuck!
