this rental is as described and more. The house is older but neat as a pin, the inside including the garage and the land scape. the kitchen was pretty well equipped , other tenants had left some condiments, we left a few too. the 3 bedrooms all have very comfortable king size beds. the bathrooms are good size, the furniture is very comfortable and beachy . the BBQ grill was great. This house has everything you might need to enjoy the island. there are 2 bikes, boogie boards, surf board, kayak, snorkeling equipment, water shoes, stroller, golf clubs, kids beach toys. they also have plenty of board games etc. The beach is great for watching the waves, but not a swimmable , my son did go surfing on the very small waves. The neighborhood is quiet, safeway and foodland are only about 5 minute drive, Walmart is about 10 minutes. Honolulu is about 30 minutes due to traffic, North shore about 40 minutes.
The view for this house is amazing, you can see Honolulu all the way to Diamond Head. We will be returning next year.
Our only suggestions/complains, A rice cooker would have been nice, the kitchen light was way too dim, maybe they just needed changing. we had difficulty accessing the information for the rental via Homeaway, it rquires you to down load the app, we had to contact the owner for the check in information, they were very prompt and helpful.
My family and I were a party of 7 staying for 13 days for the Christmas holiday. This trip was a big deal because it was our first Christmas away from home and we also took my spouse's parents with us. The property was as advertised and the pictures do not do the backyard and beach area justice! A couple of things to be prepared for: 1) the beach is very rocky (coral) close to shore, proceed with caution 2) no dishwasher.
The home has plenty of space, with ocean views from the master bedroom, living room, and kitchen areas. We found the washer/dryer very useful as that helped us not pack as much clothing. The property's grounds are well maintained the days of taking out the refuse and recycle bins made us feel even more at home. Christmas day was amazing as we were treated to a home cooked meal and exchanging gifts to the sound of the ocean was unbelievable. We also took the time to take family pictures on the beach!
The neighbors and neighborhood were very quiet along with the beach. There are several public access points, but the most traffic we saw on the beach were the beach walkers in the morning. The grocery stores, gas stations, and a few restaurants were less than a 10 minute drive. We found the location of the property to be very ideal as it is almost the midpoint of the main freeways of the island.
You will experience the most amazing sunrises and sunsets here as well. We could not get enough. For a more ideal swimming beach, White Plains Beach at Barbers Point is less than a 15 minute drive. It is also a great beach to learn surfing or paddle boarding.
The amenities of this home were more than enough. If you are looking to be away from tourists and feel more at home (and a bit of a local), this is the house for you! We would stay here again and recommend it to our friends and family.
Mahalo nui loa and Hawai'i no ka oi!

this property was very clean and comfortable, having the ocean at the back door was fantastic. Would be back if the stars align.
You know it's been a week since leaving our island home of Hawaii and it took me some time to decide what to say in my review. I, myself hadn’t been home in 7 years. My keikis and I wanted to take a kick back do nothing vacation and I wanted somewhere on the dry side of Oahu. Well, Ewa Beach it was, this Ewa Beach home was the old local style that we grew up in the Moanalua Gardens area. All the childhood memories came back to us the minute we drove down the street, open the gate and walked into the house. Our eyes were filled with happiness. The geckos, mynah birds, waves crashing to the beach, the humidity, the sunrise and sunset, the view of the Honolulu city lights, the ono local food and the local people – all brought memories of growing up in a one of kind place. Prior to making the trip home, I had been talking to Darla and her warm aloha voice was so nice to hear and she was very helpful as well. Also, I briefly talked to Connie and her welcoming voice made the drive to the Ewa beach house so much enjoyable. We felt the warm ohana feeling. The house was the typical single wall (wooden) type and wooden floors were nice to walk on with no carpet. This house has a lot of room to move around and the view from the lanai, speechless. We left windows open and waking up in the morning to hear birds singing, wave crashing and the trade winds blowing was so comforting and nice to even fall asleep too. The available beach furniture, beach gear and even the old cooler to wash your sandy feet in was, so Akamai. The house had everything you needed – it was kind of like a home away from home. Oh by the way, on our second morning a Hawaiian monk seal came ashore and slept awhile and eventually woke up and swam away. Now, for those of you that aren’t aware, it is illegal to touch a Hawaiian monk seal or a Hawaiian sea turtle. We stayed for 9 days and my keikis want to come back to this Ewa Beach house. So, plans are currently in the works to stay longer next time. I wanted give a big ALOHA to, Connie and Rachel for allowing us to visit / stay in their wonderful island home (maybe I will buy it – someday and move back home). Also, another big ALOHA to, Darla for talking story with me and suggesting “Pearl’s Korean BBQ” so ono. ALOHA & MAHALO
We were 6 adults, 1 couple (myself and my husband) and 4 singles (my mom, my brother, and my 2 adult sons). Every person had a bed of his/her own. One room (mom's) was furnished with a queen bed- this room had the window AC unit, which she only used one night. The middle room had 2 twin beds and a futon- the guys stayed in this room. The master bedroom had a king bed with attached bathroom- my husband and I stayed here. Box fans were available and used, but AC was not necessary. The house itself was well furnished, spacious, and welcoming. There was plenty of snorkels and masks, but no large fins. Therefore the boys wore reef shoes instead of fins. We used the ocean-going kayak around the house and had a blast. My younger son tried surfing, but failed miserably; fun times no doubt. We were very close to Honolulu and Pearl Harbor; bonus for that.
There was a 1/2 lb of coffee for us when we arrived and a box of mac nuts, which was nice. Sparsely stocked kitchen; we found coffee filters and a couple of odds and ends like plastic cups and that sort of thing, but no condiments were in the fridge, no paper towels, or extra toilet paper. We really had to stock up on a lot of small things when we first arrived. Most places we have rented leave things from previous guests that are still usable. Maybe the previous guests used everything up? I don't know.
The neighborhood is fine, but I would advise closing the front gate, even when you're home. On our first day there we had someone knock on the door trying to sell newspapers or something. Also more than a few times we noticed the side gate near the house was open when we arrived back to the house in the evening. I just assumed it was kids cutting through the yard. No big deal, but something to be aware of. After we noticed that we closed the windows that were easily accessible (over the porch area for instance) when we left for the day.
Oh, and if you are afraid of bugs, like I am, avoid the garage at night! Huge cockroaches live in the garage. I refused to go down into the garage after the first couple of nights. During the day they were not a problem, but at night...ewww. They were also on the porch at night. So no mai tais on the lanai for me. Luckily only one found his way into the house, and one of my big strong men took care of him :)
Other than a couple of minor issues, everything was great and we had a wonderful stay in this home.
We had a group of seven ranging in age from 30 to 75. Everyone enjoyed our stay. The older folks loved the quiet beach and pleasant deck. The younger folks enjoyed the cable and wifi. The living space was home-like, and we had plenty of room to be ourselves. Everything was clean and as described. We never needed to turn on the air conditioner because the screened windows and fans were great. If you are looking for quiet and peaceful, this is the place.
