Cozy duplex just across Place des Vosges, in the heart of Le Marais

We picked this apartment because of its location and because of its unique, authentically Parisian character. When we arrived we found the apartment to be exactly that! Located in the heart of Le Marais (steps away from Place des Voges) it's hidden away in a little courtyard with a beautiful garden and away from the street noise. The interior had a lot of Parisian character with a cool stone wall and windy stairs. It wasn't a very big apartment, but spacious enough to accommodate the four of us (two kids and two adults). It had all the modern amenities (TV, fans, fridge, washing machine, dishwasher), including a small kitchen with all the kitchenware you'd ever need in the kitchen. Best thing of all - there was a surprise waiting for us when we arrived! A bottle of French red wine - special gift from Rita and Gerard. Speaking of Rita and Gerard, they were fantastic hosts. Absolutely wonderful people. They gave us clear instructions on how to get to the apartment and arranged for someone to meet & greet us when we arrived. We couldn't get the TV to work at first, so Gerard stopped by that night to check on it and had it fixed within a couple of days (plus they gave us a discount for this inconvenience). When we asked them to recommend a good local restaurant, Gerard couldn't remember its name so he hoped on his moped (a popular transportation vehicle in Paris!) and drove to that restaurant to get its name and exact address! Talk about going above and beyond. Another great thing is that the apartment was very close to several metro stations (5-7 minute walk), lots of restaurants, cafes, cheese shops and bakeries and even two supermarkets. To make a long story short, we will be back. For sure. Thank you Rita and Gerard for making our stay in Paris so wonderful and sharing your beautiful apartment with us!

I agree fully with other reviewers- I would rent this apartment again.
The owners, Rita and Gerard, provided lots of information ahead of time and a warm welcome on our arrival.
The apartment is exactly as described, and truly has everything you need. It has been modernized in a very tasteful way- the appliances all work well, the shower has excellent water pressure and there is lots of hot water. The bright bedroom ( upstairs) is larger than it looks in the photos, and there is ample storage on both levels. Because of the courtyard entrance, you are away from the noise of the street. Rue St. Antoine has many fine shops for food and wine.
The neighbourhood is lively and there are many restaurants, museums, and historic places of interest within walking distance.
Previous renters and the owners have kindly left their recommendations for local restaurants, shops, and activities.
The Village St. Paul, very close on Rue St. Paul, is a nice little shopping and dining area. Place des Vosges is only two minutes walk
Perhaps 20 minutes walk away is the Promenade Plantee and the Viaduc des Arts..
It is very easy to get around the city by Metro, as there are three stations close by.
We had great fun using the Velib bikes in Paris- the 3 closest stations are at the St. Paul Metro, on Rue St. Paul closer to the Seine, and at Sully Morland Metro.

Finding this lovely duplex was a wonderful relief after being scammed with another rental. Rita and Gerard responded quickly to all my inquiries (they even called my international number when they received my request!), were trustworthy, and very hospitable--my arrival was greeted with a bottle of wine!

I've stayed in 2nd, 3rd, 11th, 18th arr, and Paris suburbs and so far this apartment is in my favorite location. Even though it is in a lively neighborhood, the apartment is quiet. There are plenty of places to eat, a supermarket just a few minutes walk away that is open until late, and two metro stops less than five minutes walk away.

This apartment has all the charms you would want/expect from a Parisian home! Thanks Rita and Gerard!
