With no offense meant to the West Virginia Mountaineers or any other fine school in Wild and Wonderful West Virginia, the owners were roommates at Virginia Tech and made this purchase together 12 years after graduation. Thus it seemed fitting to be the “Hokie Haus' Cabin. However this is NOT a college Party House. It is where we bring our families for vacation and we look forward to having you as our guest! Minimum age for rental is 25.
100% refund 30 days prior to check-in; 50% refund less than 30 days prior to check-in.

Cameron and Angie have three children, Alexander, Aiden and Adelyn. They live and sell real estate at Smith Mountain Lake, VA. Summer is the busy season, but they're able to get away in the winter and really wanted a place where the kids would remember having their family vacations.
Brett and Cameron went to the same high school and were roommates at VA TECH. They lost touch for a few years and then ran into each other in their hometown of Staunton, VA. Later, Angie introduced Brett to Kim and they were married in 2008. Brett owns South River Irrigation in Staunton,VA and Kim is a clinical director with United Healthcare.
In Feb 2007, we went to Snowshoe for vacation and decided to look at places to buy. In Feb 2008, we went again and found our cabin. The furnace had caught fire. The pipes had frozen and flooded the entire house. It was foreclosed and looking very rough! Much to the disagreement of our wives, we knew this would become 'The Hokie Haus Cabin'. We closed in the spring of 2008 and hired a contractor to gut and remodel the entire house. As the season got nearer, it became evident it wasn't going to be finished, so we ultimately had to finish the project on our own. We finally got it ready to advertise and rent on 1/7/09. We were very pleased with the rentals we got our first year in spite of getting a late start. We were also very pleased with all of our 'guests'. Everyone was very friendly to work with and took great care of the cabin. We returned 100% of our deposits.
All of our rental proceeds stay in Hokie Haus, LLC for upgrades.
In 2010, we added another partner Joe Weeks, a National Guard Recruiter in Staunton, VA and his son Brenden to the Hokie Haus Family.
Brett Snyder purchased this cabin in 2008
We love to ski and we think this is the best skiing in the region. There's always something going on. The mountains and the weather are beautiful in the spring, summer, and fall.
A typical day for us at Snowshoe starts with a big breakfast at the cabin. By 9 am we are on the shuttle for a 2 minute ride to the slopes. After a long day of skiing, the kids enjoy games at the Shaver Center and/or swimming in the pool. Then we cook a gourmet dinner back at the cabin and finish our evening drinking wine around the fire, while the kids play and watch TV in the loft. The cabin is perfectly designed for 2 couples and children. We also able to stay in touch with our business's while we're away with the high speed internet and unlimited nationwide long distance phones.
I have stayed at this cabin all 4 trips that I have taken to Snowshoe. The owners are great and always easy to get in touch with. The shuttle picks you up right outside and you get to come back to the warm fire! We plan to stay here again next year for our annual trip!!
The Hokie Haus was more than expected for an amazing Christmas vacation. It was clean, well-maintained, and the kitchen was well-stocked with all the amenities you could possibly need. The view out the back windows and from the wrap-around porch is unbeatable, so much so, that was where my current fiance decided to get down on one knee and pop the question. Come to find out, one of the owners Brett had known about the plan the whole time and was in constant contact with my fiance helping him and answering all his questions along the way. We couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our first Christmas alone and my first time skiing. The shuttle is so convenient and picks you up as well as drops you off right in front of the house. We would recommend this place to anyone wishing to enjoy Snowshoe away from the main strip of the village but still having all the convenience of being located less than a 2 minute shuttle ride away.
Our stay at the Hoki Haus was very enjoyable. The cabin was perfect for our family of 7 and was clean and well equipped. The shuttle was convenient, but around 4:30 when the ski slopes closed down, the wait time could be lengthy. Best to drive your car if possible up to the free parking at Top of The World which is only minutes away from the cabin. The owners were very helpful in resolving an issue with the wireless internet and very easy to work with when making arrangements for the booking. Would definitely recommend the property and would rent again ourselves in the future. The views out the back of the cabin alone were fantastic. The steps down from the parking area to the cabin would make this property impossible for anyone with disabilities.
This cabin was perfect for a ski vacation at Snowshoe. It's so much nicer than one of the small condos close to the Village. There's a great view, a gas fireplace, comfortable seating, and lots of other great features. The shuttle was very helpful. The owners are responsive and accommodating. I would highly recommend this cabin.
My family had a wonderful Christmas vacation at the Hokie Haus!
While at the home we got 31 inches of snow, just what my boys from NC needed. We had a great time building a fort, making a snowman, and of course skiing. Can't beat the value.
My family and I just returned from a week long ski vacation at Hokie Haus, and I would highly recommend this rental to any one who is searching for a cozy cabin on Snowshoe Mountain. The decor was modern and the home was very clean when we arrived, a major plus. There was ample room for our two small children in the loft area and a second bedroom for our guests. We loved the shuttle service which was an incredible convenience, as we did not have to drive our cars or fight for parking at the Village. We simply picked up the phone and within 5 minutes a shuttle was outside our door. We will definitely return to Hokie Haus and look forward to this being our annual ski retreat!
