Harlem Vacation Rental townhome

The property will not disappoint you; a wonderful area of Harlem, clean, safe, vibrant, close to subway connections to Mid- and Downtown.
The apartment is beautifully appointed and maintained, clean and very comfortable. We were two females travelling together and there was more than enough room - sofa bed very comfortable. The kitchen allowed us to cook at the end of a hard day's sightseeing and shopping.
The owner was very helpful and prompt in answering all questions, either by email or 'phone. You'll find a folder with lots of useful information awaiting you.
There is a telephone from which you can make local calls and receive calls from overseas.
In terms of attractions close by, there are several soul food restaurants - don't just head for Sylvia's, as Maude's is just around the corner and very reasonable. The Abyssian church gets packed for both services, even if you arrive early, there is no guarantee that you will get in, so maybe look for alternatives close by.
The Lennox Lounge is a reasonable walk away, whilst Londel's Supper club is just around the corner, also offering life music at weekends.
Don't miss the red velvet cake freshly baked at Make my Cake, on the corner of 139th.
If you have any worries about Harlem, don't! We were walking around the area at all times of day and night, with no problems whatsoever, indeed people were incredibly friendly and helpful, in shops, restaurants and on the street.
What we appreciated most was the peace and tranquility after having been Downtown, which is generally noisy and busy. It is a genuine neighbourhood, and for us was a fantastic introduction to NY.
Taxi ride to from JFK was approx 30-40 mins.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend using the property, as it is in a great location and very well connected by subway and bus.
It worked out to be very reasonable, considering what a 2 week stay would have cost in a hotel; you have all of the amenities of home, plus the experience of Harlem on your doorstep. A great find - enjoy!
