Historic New Bern, NC is the Colonial Capitol of NC. Rich in history with a vibrant downtown. Two major rivers converge in downtown New Bern to offer a picturesque backdrop against the many gorgeous 17th and 18th century historic homes and buildings that are still standing. Tryon Palace Historic sites and Gardens is open for public tours and was the home of the English Governer Tryon that ruled this colony. If you are attending an event at The New Bern Convention Center or any function in downtown New Bern, you will be very pleased with the proximity of The Abbot House. A very easy commute to MCAS Cherry Point and the beaches of eastern NC referred to as 'The Crystal Coast'. Stroll the charming streets and visit shops, restaurants, antique stores, wine shops, art galleries and specialty stores. Venture to the nearby riverfront walkway for a scenic walk or take in some fishing. Boat rentals are also available. Settled in 1710, New Bern will soon celebrate its 300th birthday.

Great Place To Stay-Pretty and Affordable

We were very pleased with our choice to stay at The Abbot House. It was really pretty with nice furnishings and comfortable beds. The location was excellent. We were just a few blocks from downtown New Bern, the convention center and Tryon Palace. The house had a large selection of DVD's and books, cable television, a big eat-in kitchen fully stocked with dishes and utensils. the washer and dryer came in handy and the Abbot House is even pet-friendly with a fenced yard. Exceptionally clean, nice home. We definitely recommend it!
