Photos and Description of the Asheville vacation cottage rental
3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6-8

This ASHEVILLE MOUNTAIN COTTAGE (3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms) in a wooded setting has picturesque old world charm that is reminiscent of an Italian Alpine cottage. A hot tub on the stone patio, cradled by massive rock walls, rests under a vine-draped pergola. The sunken garden has blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and fresh herbs to use in the gourmet kitchen, and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows. From the deck, you can enjoy close mountain views as you dine or sit around a blazing fire in the chiminea. Golfing, rafting and horseback riding are among the local attractions, as well as the Grove Park Inn and the famed Biltmore Estate. Hiking, mountain biking and scenic drives await you along the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway. Yet the fantastic restaurants and night life of Asheville are only a few minutes away. Here you can enjoy both town and country – truly the best of both worlds.

Vintage log cabin on the outskirts of Asheville : Red Gate Cottage is a vintage log cabin faced with locally quarried stone, situated on a knoll at the edge of Beaverdam Valley. Semiskilled craftsmen working over decades, using stone and antique brick, produced an absolutely marvelous effect that makes the cottage resemble an ancient stone house in the Alps. The original log walls inside have been restored and preserved. The original cast iron cook stove is still in place. The labyrinth which graces the front of the property contributes to the overall fairy tale effect.

Romance and Celebration : The luxury renovation by the Architect/Owner features high pine-faced cathedral ceilings throughout. The river stone fireplace is a focal point where people enjoy gathering to watch movies and cable HDTV or to just soak up the relaxing atmosphere. It's the perfect venue for romantic couples, friends and family groups to celebrate holidays and special occasions. High demand dates include the summer Belle Chere Festival and the fall leaf season (through mid-November), Thanksgiving, and the Christmas holidays. The candlelight 'Christmas at the Biltmore' festivities are from Nov. 7 through Jan 3.

Close to Nature : Outside, the sounds of the abundant wild life mingle with those of barnyard animals from nearby farms. You may have to slow down for flocks of wild turkeys crossing the road. Guests recently saw a total of eight black bears (including 4 cubs) during their 10-day stay. So bring the children, bring the dog. Here, you can get away from it all but still stay in touch by telephone (free long distance) and high speed wireless internet.

We had a relaxing stay at Red Gate Cottage. All of the descriptions of the property were accurate with a great location and a quiet setting. My children loved the cozy backyard and playset. The adults in our group loved the clean and unique cottage interior. The hot tub was also a frequent spot to unwind for everyone. I highly recommend a stay at the Red Gate Cottage!

Our family had a fabulous long weekend stay at the Red Gate Cottage. We sat on the portico for coffee, patio for wine and ate dinner on the deck in front of the chiminea. The hot tub was very cozy, tucked away in a secluded corner with hanging vines and rock walls to make us feel like we were in Italy or France. The cabin is only a 7 minute drive to downtown Asheville. Great house!!

Lovely!

We just spent a long weekend at The Red Gate Cottage with some friends and our two dogs. The cottage is very charming and the grounds are lovely. We would love to come back when the weather is warmer so that we could enjoy the outdoor space. The location is great! Just a short drive from downtown, and several shops are close by to pick groceries, etc.

The property is completely fenced and we were able to let the dogs explore on their own. However, there was enough space to accommodate a game of fetch. The perfect vacation for dogs and their owners!

The cottage is stocked with anything you could possibly need. Extra towels and sandals are available for hot tub use. The gas fireplace made the cottage very cozy on those cold nights!

Thanks, Georgia!

Honeymooners in the mountains!

We selected Asheville because it was halfway home from Florida where we had our wedding ceremony on 12/27/12, also because we had heard so many good things about Asheville. Since we were traveling with dogs, a fence is a must as they enjoy running around and taking in the smells untethered! Red Gate Cottage was so VERY much more than a fenced-in cabin in the woods. It is hard to describe all the personal touches that Georgia has put into the cottage to make it so magical. In fact, we probably missed some awesome Asheville sightseeing because the cottage would not allow us to leave! We enjoyed the limitless options of vegetarian/vegan fare the city had to offer and are already looking forward to future visits.

Lovely experience

It was a pleasure dealing with Georgia, she handled all of the arrangements with great attention to detail. The cottage was darling, all of our needs and expectations were met and surpassed. The gated yard was wonderful for exercising our 2 year old golden retriever with no fear of traffic. It is in a great location, close to the Grove Park Inn and Asheville. There are cute outdoor spaces, some of which we never found time to enjoy, altho hours were spent talking, drinking and snacking on the deck. The washer and dryer were handy as we were heading to the beach after our 3 night stay. The gas fireplace took the chill off of a cool fall evening. We loved exploring how the cottage has evolved over time, altho we never did find the secret storage place in the master bath cabinet. Thanks, Georgia, we had a good time and would recommend it highly...
