My husband John and I, Diane, built Alaska Creekside Cabins in 2003, starting with 3 cabins at the Cottonwood Creek location. The following year we built 2 more cabins in a nice secluded spot on Wasilla Creek, & an additional 2 cabins on the other end of Cottonwood Creek, the Shady Nook location. I believe we offer something very unique within the Matsu Valley, as each of our locations are on salmon spawning creeks. We offer the convenience of being only minutes from downtown Wasilla or Palmer, yet the seclusion most people are looking for.
As locals with knowledge of the community, our objective is to diligently assist you in meeting your vacation goals, while making sure you are as comfortable as possible with your lodging. We love Alaska & love to share our knowledge of this great state too!
Diane purchased this cabin in 2003
Great place to stay. Beautiful scenery and very nice people. I would definitely recommend
We cannot thank our hosts enough for the opportunity to stay in their Whisper Cabin. Everything was in "tip-top" shape and so very convenient when we returned each day from fishing for silvers. Next time we visit, I'll book sooner so we can spend more time on your property. The fire pit looked inviting but didn't have time to use it. My teenagers liked the WIFI access so they could post photos of their catch.
Nice cabin. Pretty and quiet location. Close to main roads. Good owners!!

Anytime I am staying in the Mat Su area I always stay here if there is an opening. When I stay here I am always assured an easy check in and check out, clean, quiet and comfortable accommodations at a great price/value. All of the cabins have a beautiful view and though you maybe close to others you feel a sense of privacy and quiet that I have not found with similar places. The host, Diane, is always pleasant and helpful. The cabins are located in such a place that it is an easy day trip to places such as Talkeetna, Anchorage, Palmer, Girdwood, Hatcher Pass and even Seward! Shopping and restaurants are also closely.
My Brother and I stayed two weeks at the Whisper cabin, halfway between Wasilla and Palmer. We came for Alaska Baseball and Fishing. All Aspen and Pine trees around cabin with creek view from front porch. Beautiful! 2 Cow Moose (1 with twin calves) hanging around. Got great photo's. Creek closed to all Salmon fishing. Saw couple of 3' Kings (on their last legs) in the creek. We caught, cooked, and ate, pan sized Dolly Varden trout from the creek.
Not a 2 bedroom as advertised, but 1 bedroom (Queen) with open loft (2 singles) and "only" reached by Ladder. Be advised-the water out of the tap is yellowish and has a strong Sulfer smell. Pretty much cancels out the Jacuzzi bathtub! Even showering leaves a sulfer smell on you. Advise you to buy bottled water to drink. Owner said she would bring by fresh linens every 4-5 days. Never happened in 2 weeks. We washed our towels at laundermat. You will have to have a car to get to anything. Bring bug spray and spray exposed skin and clothing and will keep the mosquitoes away.
Even with the negatives, better than any Hotel or motel we saw in the area. We viewed it as roughing it and enjoyed it. If you can get by the water problem, you will enjoy yourself but Insist on fresh Linens!
